1. Awesome! Thanks Kerrygoddess!
"The blogosphere has been impatiently waiting (polite version) for word from John Kerry on the DSM."

I will freely admit that I have been one of them. Guilty as charged.

I can't wait! But I guess I must.

6. Bless you KG, this is good news!
I was very apprehensive about this when it first came up, as I viewed the expectations game as very dangerous. (Sigh! Not exactly Einstein over here. Who didn't know that?) The Internet is a means for instant communications and sometimes being instant is not good. It can turn a reasonable amount of time necessary for deliberate thought and well-reasoned argument into a call for getting it done NOW, whether or not it is good. This disturbs me.

I look forward to hearing what Sen. Kerry has to say. I bet it's worth the wait.

tomorrow so I have time on Wednesday or Thursday to pay attention to the news OR should I stick around tomorrow because things may be happening?

8. I'm glad he waited for the press to start talking about the DSM
Even if he made a kick-ass speech about the DSM, but almost nobody outside of blog-land knew what it was, it wouldn't have much effect. Now that the word is spreading somewhat, it has a chance to make a bigger impact.

9. Even though now the naysayers will say
He waited for the wind to change before coming out. But then they said that when it was just him and Conyers. I kept asking "What wind?"

Someone else was crying because he was stealing Conyers thunder. I had to ask that person, "What thunder?" Bless him, Conyers would get almost no press all by himself. Congressmen rarely do.

11. Kerry's going to have more impact
Because he was a presidential nominee. We've got 435 Congress-critters all the time. But we only have 2 presidential nominees once every 4 years.

14. Hey, KG? What about what Pirate SMile said upthread
in #7. Like, tomorrow I have an appointment at 3:00 at the Dentist to get roots scrapped. Should I, theoretically, set the Tivo to stun around that time or risk missing a theoretical event that might or might not take place.

(Answer me or I will go into a blow by blow desciption of the scrapping procedure. Don't toy with me, I'm just insane enough to do it.)

13. I'm happy to hear this!
You know, he didn't have to get involved in this. He could have ignored it like other senators. I wouldn't of thought any less of him if he had. I was concerned he risked damaging his reputation, by being too outspoken on the minutes. This subtitle approach is by far a better way to draw attention to the minutes and away from him. This way they appear more legitimate.Of course for some people, anything less than storming the White House and putting Bush under citizens arrest for lying to the people, while waving the minutes and threatening Bush with impeachment, would be good enough for them.

Ahhh! Yesterday was the last day at school for all us teachers here in San Diego, and today is the first day of summer (the solstice). Full summer ahead. Surf and Snow --- like totally dude (still Spring skiing in Mammoth and the family is headed up this weekend!)

But right now, I think I'll go watch "Going Up River" again and get psyched. If anyone hears a whisper more (Kerrygoddess!!??), please scream it loud the moment you hear. Thanks. I have my VCR loaded, cocked, and ready.

26. What a powerful film . . .
If you haven't watched "Going Up River" in a while, I recommend watching it again. I don't understand why my eyes get all watery every single time I watch it. OK, that's a lie. I do know why.

Sadly the similarities between Vietnam and Iraq are staggering. Our government was lying then, and 30 years later they are doing so again. 1740+ U.S. soldiers are dead, 10s of thousands are permanently injured/wounded psychologically and/or physically, and well over 100,000+ Iraqis are dead, not even counting the dead of our allies.

JK, thanks for helping to bring about the end to Vietnam and being apart of the anti-war movement. I hope and pray you can do so again now with this fraudulent war. I'm really looking forward to your response regarding all the DSMs, and calling out our government on their lies again. We were all duped. Just substitute Vietnam with Iraq . . .

"How do you ask a man to be the last man to die in Vietnam? How do you ask a man to die for a mistake?" --- John Kerry, April 22, 1971

Just as the REM song says at the end of the film "Hold on world cuz you don't know what's coming . . ."

I think I do --- it's John Kerry.

35. Then it's pretty serious stuff
This is better than a speech. (Or what preceeds a speech.) The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence is in charge of overseeing what went wrong with the pre-war intelligence. Maybe, according to the DSM, nothing went wrong and we knew that the case for WMD was thin all along, but did it anyway.

And what about the new allegations that the war actually started with bombing runs before the vote in Oct 2002? There are sources coming forward now who claim to have been in Iraq who saw the explosions. This is serious stuff. And what about the allegation, blatantly unconstitutional, that * diverted money from the legal war in Afghanistan to pre-war operations in Iraq. (This was wrong, no if's and or buts. He could not re-authorize money for another war without Congressional approval. This is another impeachable offense.)

Hmmm, who's on that Select Committee:

Then there is this link - http://intelligence.senate.gov/pubs108.htm

Yeas, a man with a point to make would take his point in written form to this committee. (of course the average person won't get that)

38. there's an interesting article
by the editor of The Progressive on just how many war crimes * and co. could be found guilty of. I hadn't realized that Amnesty International actually called on those in other countries to somehow stop them (the Bush cabal) if our own government wouldn't make them accountable.

http://63.247.66.90/~progress/?q=mag_impunity

When you step back and look at it objectively, it's really horrifying. We Americans are like the frog in the pot of water being slowly heated to a boil. We've become somewhat desensitized due to the steady stream of lies, fumbling, and outrageous behavior from the right.

39. Corzine's a lock. He was the first to bring up DSM on Hardball.
Of course, Matthews claimed he never heard of it and moved on to another question. That was about 4 or 5 days before Kerry insulted the media into doing their job.

So, I'd say Corzine would be Kerry's natural ally on DSM. It would make BIG news if Hagel signed on.

That it was held off for another sig.

Looking at that sched for the Intell committee, I get the impression that it might have been the goal to get it to them last week, thus the "story" in last Tuesday's news. Then maybe a few more showed interest. All speculation on my part but it makes sense. As more interest builds on this, they have been holding out to have discussions and get more sigs.
