Word from the non-DU world
Edited on Sat Jan-08-05 07:25 PM by whometense
I love the blog First-Draft, and was just visiting over there.

I bring back this thread for you so you can see it's not so bad for our guy our there. Not 100% approval, but I found this post and these comments very encouraging. Hope you do too.

1. Thanks, nice link
I liked it and will add the site to my favs.

I think we are on the same 'net schedule. Odd. I finished up all my mundane things, had some surprises and am back for a limited time. Sounds similar to your experience.

2. Thanks For The Link
I will be checking it out more often. Kerry is still one of the top rated democrats for 2008 although you have many that try to say otherwise or act as if he is yesterday's news. When in fact it is those who are always making their snide nasty remarks about Kerry that are yesterday's news. Many of us are starting to ignore what they say because we are smart enough to know their threats and opinions are as useless as tits on a boar hog.

Their writing is really good, and they're snarky in a way I relate to. Athenae, who wrote that post, is my favorite, She also has pet ferrets, and blogs them every Friday. I'm not particularly a rodent fan, but I look forward to the Friday photos. Here's one of my favorites: http://first-draft.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=1600

Before the election she was posting Happy Kerry Pictures too - I think she had a bit of a crush as well. ;-)

TayTay,
I spent all day trying to sweep away the last vestiges of Christmas mess. With the kids coming and going and coming and going and...there was a lot of mess. Then I made bean soup because it was such a disgusting day. And watched Alice's Restaurant with my youngest, my only hippie child. It was actually a nice day, once I got past the vacuuming. :evilfrown:

5. I had a great day!
I stopped posting because I went upstairs and found my husband CLEANING THE BATHROOM! I didn't ask him to do this, he just was in the tub with a cleaning rag and some disinfectant. I was so shocked and pleased, and well, turned on.

This is why I have trouble posting in the LLL threads. My definition of what is sexy has changed drastically. I must now admit that I am easy. I can be had with a damn cleaning rag. Oh my Gawd! This is not commuicable to young 'uns.

Post and tell me I'm not insane here!

6. Oh, that's totally true...
My boyfriend (we've been shacked up for 3 years) is a caveman with the vacuum cleaner. MMmmmMmmmMmm.

I'll bet JK doesn't think he's too good for a little scrubbin'!

9. Well, maybe I was wrong.
Maybe it doesn't have to be that long. ;-)

When my husband and I first started living together I was working full time, and he had a part time job and spent the rest of the day home writing. He got to be incredibly good at soup-making and bread-baking. Talk about turn-ons!

7. hahahahahahaha!
I LOVE that story!!!!

I'd be turned on too - are you kidding me??? Cleaning the tub without being asked? Good lord.

It's pretty hard to talk about to 20-year-olds, I grant you. You just have to have been married a long time to get it. But you're definitely not insane.

8. I think a second run isn't so hard to imagine.
Look at this year--a lot of new things happened--the grassroots support for one. Internet fund raising. Protesting the election in Congress. I can imagine having Kerry run two times in a row, if he stays visible these next few years and keeps building support from the grassroots up. We down here are not nearly as cynical as those on top, who worry about precedents, focus groups, etc etc. We down here say "why not?". It depends a lot on what happens in the next four years, and, like vinessa said, whether his family wants to go through it all again. But if no election reforms happen, it won't look good for any Dem, once again. :(

10. Practically speaking, I have trouble
imagining how it's going to happen. The rethugs seem to have everything set up the way they like it. Unless George Soros buys CNN or something (I can dream, can't I?)

Holding out hope for riots in the streets is a bit harsh. Certainly if they institute a draft, it's lights out. But they must know that. Seniors rioting over social security and drug costs? The mind boggles.

11. It's too soon
Who knows what'll happen in the next four years. Should he decide to run again, I'll support him wholeheartedly but it's premature to guess what will happen.
