We really need a pic thread.
This has been a difficult week. Well, standing up for principle and doing the right thing is always difficult. It's always easier to hide and go along with the crowd. But, in honor of the Sens who did stand up for the constitution, for the separation of powers and for civil rights: I say we pic-thread.

Love those firefighers: (Ahm, and the longish hair.)

to make me stand next to this guy.

One man is wicked smart and understands foreign policy and all the grey areas that go with it. The other man is a moran and can't even find North Carolina on a map. Sigh! I think Sen. Kerry should get hazardous duty pay every time he has to be somewhere with Allen. (Cuz it's so yucky.)

He got a lot of attention in the main forums. One re his stupid hair and another about some racist vandalism he allegedly committed when in school. Do you know if that's true?

I adore this pic. It's wonderful. OMG! That is the sweetest thing I ever saw!

What a great pic!

This one was from Manchester, NH.

I don't remember if I posted this one before, but, nice smile. (And some blueberried woman in front of him who needed a hair cut. Yeesh, some people just show up looking any old way they feel fit. They need to back to school and take 'How to dress for C-Span 101.'

Edited on Sun Feb-05-06 12:07 PM by karynnj
Thais is so sweet - those kids look like they're having a good time. What's really cool is that this picture is so obviously real - almost anyone (Bush is obvious exception) could pose with kids and look good, but this is so enthusiastic and natural.

I haven't seen this one. Is this the school with the black and white picture when he's reading to a group of kids and a little girl is laying on his knee or is this totally different? You don't see little kids flocking to Bushie like that! Is there anyway you can make that smaller so it can be a signature picture?

11. Okay, here's a new one: A recipe for cranberry bread
I knew about the cookies, but I never knew this: http://www.virtualcities.com/ons/ma/gov/magvjk1.htm

The Honorable John Kerry
United States Senator, Massachusetts
Specialty Recipe
Massachusetts Cranberry Bread

Senator Kerry hopes that you will enjoy this special Massachusetts treat as much as he and his family do. Massachusetts grows the largest crop of cranberries in the world. Because of such an accomplishment, cranberry juice has been the State Beverage since 1970, and the cranberry itself has been the State Berry since 1994. The Senator is proud to submit such a symbolic recipe for your enjoyment.

Ingredients
1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 cup chopped Massachusetts cranberries
1/2 cup water
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1-3/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Grease and flour a loaf pan. Cream the butter (or margarine) and sugar together in a large mixing bowl. Beat in the eggs with an electric mixer. Stir in the cranberries, water, and vanilla. Sift the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon together and stir in with the batter. Add the chopped walnuts to the mixture and pour in the loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 55 minutes. Test with a toothpick.

25. Thoroughbred mare with twin foals. And she's so friendly with JK!!!!!
Thoroughbred mares can be the most skittish creatures on earth. Trust me on this. Look how the mare (with twin foals by her side) goes right up to Senator Kerry! And he's not the least bit afraid of them.

A guy who likes horses and chocolate. Wow. We knew he was one in a billion, but still. He never ceases to impress, from his battles in the Senate to these little personal things.

Every time I see photos like this, I'm reminded of the THING we have occupying our White House. Did we fall through a black hole into a parallel universe where everything is back-asswards or what?

He needs a grandchild. Kids take to him.
