i hate the media
their biggest outrage seems to be when someone says something against the shitty administration. they make the issue about how evil and mean the Democrats are.

it's not about reporting on what is going on in Iraq and elsewhere. their coverage of the miners is limited to the "sensationalist" with wanting live reactions of victims families hearing the good or bad news. the same with Katrina.

it never goes beyond that to see WHY it happenedin the first place and what can be done. it doesn't follow what happens afterwards and whether people get what they deserve.

it's like when they do live reporting of returning soldiers and show images of soldiers hugging loved ones they have not seen for a long time. that's all they show. never what happens afterwards when some have trouble getting the care they need and benefits they deserve.

and anytime someone points out their failure they get defensive. look at Katie Couric's reaction to Kerry. stupid whore. Wolf Blitzer did the same when a Dem brought up the media's failure shortly after the election. "you can't blame us". notice they instantly get defensive. they never even let the person finish their point. or respond with an answer based on the facts, because they don't have the facts on their side.

i am still convinced we lost a number of seats in 2002 because of the media's whore reporting of the Paul Wellstone memorial. i'm sure that's why Coleman won.

1. Look at today.
Carter and the Rev. Lowery were being political when they used Coretta King's funeral to point to Bush's actions that run counter to everything she and MLK stood for. King was a civil rights leader, Bush is violating civil rights. Even more hypocritical on the media's part is that they fail to mention the video played during the broadcast in which Iraq was specifically mentioned. The funeral was a political event. And it wouldn't be the first funeral held up to such distinction.

2. that's what got me angry enough to write this post
i have not seen anything today as i was away and returned late. but reading the comments on some of the threads on this reminded me of all these other times the media got outraged at anyone daring to question the Chimp. it ALWAYS happens. the evil mean Democrats. and then they have the nerve to ask with their ugly ignorant faces "so why aren't you guys doing well". stupid whores.

for the media the funeral was about the music and images of who was there. they don't give a shit about what the woman who the funeral is for did in her life. and why there are so many people mourning her death. especially at this time.

3. We need to find a way to boycott their advertisers
except I noticed most of their advertisers are high income businesses that the average person isn't using anyways.

4. Of course the media sucks!
Sort of related (but not), I just received an e-mail, which was right wing oriented. It was titled "Pictures from Iraq the Media dare don't show". And it showed all of these American troops with smiling kids, and an Iraqi holding a sign saying "Thank you Pres. Bush", and even one of a soldier with a kitten. It was the kitten one that made me immediately think of that picture of Lt. Kerry and the puppy from Vietnam. In other words, I'm sure we could scare up similar pictures from Vietnam, too, thereby refuting their whole argument that everything is just hunky dory in Iraq.

My point here is that when the Right doesn't get their "message" out they fight back with all of their various methods. I was unbelievably angry about that Economist op-ed about Kerry, but after writing my LTE, I felt better. The thing is, we need to learn to fight back over and over again. I like the concept of the "corporate media". We should repeat that, about how the media represents the Establishment and they like things the way they are. NBC is especially a good one to go after since GE is the largest defense contractor in the country.
