Sh*t worth reading
I found this a little interesting, and disturbing at the same time.

http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/local/articles/0213AZinDC0213.html

Interesting because it's from Media Matters..
Disturbing because of the last sentence in the 2nd to last paragraph.

But, leave it to Media Matters to investigate Sunday Talk shows.
Maybe we can finally tip the scales back our way a little bit.
As an avid Sunday talk show watcher, this is great news to me.

snips..
McCain most popular Sunday talk-show guest

Feb. 13, 2006 12:00 AM

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., the ubiquitous potential 2008 presidential candidate, enjoys special treatment from the Sunday morning television news, asserts a study to be released this week by Media Matters for America, a not-for-profit media-watch group.

The group, whose Web site says is dedicated to analyzing and correcting "conservative misinformation" in the U.S. media, plans to release its study, If It's Sunday, It's Conservative, on Tuesday in Washington, D.C.
.....
More intriguing, perhaps, is that the study shows McCain typically appears alone - without any Democrat or competing viewpoint to help the interviewer challenge him.

1. I can't STAND this man!
I'm glad to hear Media Matters is taking on the Sunday talk shows though. God(no pun intended), I hope people get sick of McCain pretty soon. He's just such a creepy old bastard.

3. Interesting tidbit about how he is never challenged on these shows.
McCain stands alone.

Let everyone hear about it.
I am looking forward to their report coming out.

4. I have to ask who actually wants McCain to appear? Whose favorite
Edited on Mon Feb-13-06 11:22 PM by wisteria
is he really?I think the Sunday talk show hosts want him. He is an easy interview. I swear, they throw him softball questions and he has ready made answers for those questions. I can't help thinking this is part of his strategy and PR, I bet he asks to be on by letting them know he is always ready and able.
It is interesting that he usually doesn't have anyone to counter his opinions. I would bet he couldn't take anyone disagreeing with him. I still say Kerry would shine above him if they were to debate side by side.

Oh, and those poll numbers, I am just not going to take them seriously right now. I can't believe people would actually chose Hillary over Kerry or even McCain over Kerry although I will admit, McCain will be more of a challenge. I still hold out hope that Hillary won't run because she knows she can't win and McCain doesn't run because of his age.

5. The Sunday shows are getting less and less appealling to me
It's just so frustrating--the hosts just won't ask tough enough questions--or else it's the guests who just won't give straight answers. Sigh. I'll still watch sometimes, but it's just the same old runaround every week.
