1. Yay!
And today I get off until 10am est! The roads are pretty icy and we get a lot of students from the North Georgia area.

2. Last Sunday
there was almost 2' of snow on the ground. A sunny week later, there's not a trace of it.

Enjoy it.

3. Yep
less than an inch here in Virginia Beach. Reportedly 60 accidents in the Hampton Roads area. They are expecting 100 more. Yikes!

Hey Island Blue, the snow has stopped here but heard you guys will be getting more.

6. Our snow had stopped by the time I went to work
(8:30ish). Bummer. We got about an inch, but it's all melted now because it's been lightly raining. Oh well, I was hoping for a snow day, but no such luck. :-( We haven't had a really good snow in at least 3 years.

That's crazy about all of the accidents. They actually canceled school in our county, why - I don't exactly know. I think they jumped the gun on that one.

8. The school
that my son teaches at in Newport News was delayed for 2 hours, but none here on the southside were delayed or canceled.

I think the last day we had snow that actually made things stand still was 2 years ago on the day after Christmas. This winter has been very mild and warm.

It is dangerous driving in the snow, so be careful. (1st gear is underutilized these days, I think.)

Hey, btw, I was at a convention in Boston this weekend and had a really, really random meeting happen. I stepped outside of the Hotel to 'indulge me vices' in the freezing cold. The door opens and I see this man walk out to 'indulge his own vices.' I was looking at him and I said, 'That guy looks like Lewis Black from 'The Daily Show' and the HBO specials. (He's a comedian.) He started talking about why Boston has banned smoking in all the restaurants and bars and how unfair it is to have to go outside. We talked for a few minutes and I asked him, 'Are you Lewis Black?' He said, 'Yes, I am.' I shook his hand and told him I was a big fan of his. Two other ladies were out there (another convention in town) and he asked where they were from. (He never asked me where I was from. Sigh! It's that obvious.) The other quite young ladies were from Wisconsin and Mr. Black relayed a slightly lewd story about his manager and his ability to, ahm, have a good time in Wisconsin. (Apparently, Wisconsin is not only nice to comedians and a great place to perform, but it is really really nice to said comedian's manager. Wow!)

Anyway, that was a completely random event. (Talk about exact right time, exact right place.) Mr. Black was a very, very nice man, very friendly. I am realy glad I didn't know I would meet him as that would have given me time to get nervous and say something stupid. As it was I barely had time to figure out who he was and said something innocuous.

7. Wow, that's really cool.
One of my friend's husbands will be really jealous - he's a huge Lewis Black fan. I guess sometimes it pays to have "vices".

9. Great story -- Lewis Black has a persona on screen
that wouldn't necessarily make me think he'd be that approachable. Glad to hear that he was nice.

The snow is already gone here, and really by 9 AM when I went out to drive, the roads were just fine. Gotta love snow in Virginia -- all the enjoyment, none of the annoyances (I think I've mentioned before that I'm from Conn.).

10. I just love Lewis Black.
There is something so liberating about an angry rant. When he's 'on', he's fantastic.
Somehow, I had a feeling he'd be super nice off the stage.
Great story. I'd love to meet him.

11. It was just so damn random.
Ahm, my latest visits to Boston have been, ahm, full of unexpected meetings. The Lewis Black meeting was extremely random, but nice. He was a great guy, still recognizable him, but 'not on' like he would be if he was performing. The proof of being a nice guy was that he asked about the people who were in the area and then made the conversation 'not about him.' His conversation was a reaction to those around him. Now that's a nice guy.
