Oh!! Our president is SOOO brave!!
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13163803/

BAGHDAD, Iraq - President Bush made a surprise visit to Iraq on Tuesday to meet newly named Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and discuss the next steps in the troubled, 3-year-old war.

snip

A risky helicopter ride, more violence

Air Force One landed in hazy daylight at Baghdad Airport, where the temperature was above 100 degrees.

Then, Bush transferred to a helicopter for a six-minute ride into the heavily fortified Green Zone. White House officials said the helicopter ride posed the greatest risk for the president.

Another day of violence marked Bush’s visit — dozens of people were killed or wounded Tuesday in explosions in the northern oil city of Kirkuk, and eight bodies were found in western Baghdad. Al-Maliki pledged “no mercy” in a crackdown against insurgents.

Oh, poor baby; he has to do what MOST Senators and Congressmen/women have already done countless times. Sen. Feinstein was actually in a C 140 that had to do evasive action. Sen. Kerry went to Fallujah and Mosul in '05, and Rep. Murtha visited the front lines of the battle in Tal Afar. I'm SICK of this stupid fawning MSM, marvelling at a president for "risking his life", when our troops, not to mention the Iraqi people, are in incredible peril EVERY DAY, without fighter pilot escorts, mostly due to the bad decisions and horrible execution of a war OF CHOICE made by this president.

1. It's momentum
Zarqawi dead!

Rove cleared!

Bush in Iraq!

Reality: The war and the country are a mess!

Focus: Support withdrawal and elect Democrats in 2006!

2. Don't look at the headlines, don't look at the news
Look at me - I'm so presidential, I went to Iraq (finally)

Actually, * is brave, anytime he walks out the door he is brave.
He should be locked up. In Iraq.

3. I assume though that both Kerry or Murtha
would quickly point out that when they were in dangerous settings, they were also extremely protected. As you said, the President's (and their) risk is miniscule compared to the soldiers and the Iraqis. (though remember, many of us worried about Kerry.)

4. Exactly!! That's my point.
I was actually someone in this forum NOT worried about Kerry when he was in Iraq, because they don't let prominent Americans travel on the roads, only by helicoptor. IEDs are the greatest danger, not being shot down, so with the law of averages, it's just not that risky (not that I would want to go). And it's EXTRA not risky for the POTUS who has unprecedented security.

Um. Let Bush have his bounce. If there's one thing you can count on about Iraq, it's that JUST when you think it's going to get better, it gets worse . . . it'll only get better long term when we leave. Kerry is right on this, and Bush is just on borrowed time. Zarqawi's death has so far changed nothing on the ground. I think the organization was always decentralized and his role was overhyped.

6. The Senator referenced this in his speech this morning
at the TBA. He said that Bush is now visiting a war zone, something he pointedly wouldn't do whe he could have served. LOL! Good one!

5. Chickensh*t. I wonder if he peed his pants while flying in the helicopter?
Another problem, another Rove arranged photo-op to divert attention away from all the problems they have created.
