1. Macromania!
This is a really appealing shot with those blocks of color and the rule-of-thirds chain. Print it and frame it; it's a real keeper!

2. That seriously rocks !!!
It definitely yanks MY chain. Great tonal thing going on... composition... color. A very good photograph!!!!

Can I ask a favor? No rush. Whenever you get around to it I'd like to see a pic taken with your camera at the High ISO settings. Curious as to how well the newer cameras are handling noise with high ISO's.

Thanks
:hi:

8. That's ISO 400 - Pretty darn good
Pretty easy to clean up with almost any anti-noise fotochop software.

Would like to see ISO 1600. Something low light.... candle light... bottle of wine... soft music.

Thanks!!!

13. I'm hungry too. What shall I make?
I'm not a bad cook. Just can't do any of that foo-foo fancy food.

The ISO1600 pics look very good. Lo-Res web versions are hard to clean up but would be fairly easy on hi-res versions. Ya' got yourself one fine camera there. Thanks for taking the time to post these. Really appreciate it.

Have to run..... go cook some dinner. You can bring the wine.

16. garlic green beans and cheese burgers?
Finally about to have that here, anyway.

Managed a few more- extremely low light. Pretty amazing stuff. Thanks for asking, FG, don't know when I would have attempted it, otherwise. I am still intimidated by all the fancy buttons.

macro, manual, no flash,ISO 1600

14. Now those may be noisy but
it kind of lends a texture to those particular subjects/settings. It looks intentional to me.

(Opinion of a non-photog, so YMMV) :hi:

5. In a loving way...But, uh.... Yes!!
And I am still operating on the miniscule card. Have a big one ordered- then watch out!

How is the weathe, NV? Talking to my dd while she was driving in San Fran yesterday and she was poo pooing all the forecasts...said it was raining quite hard but did not seem like 'the biggest storm in 20 years' as it was being billed.
Called me back about 10 minutes later to report a tree had just blown down directly behind her car!

12. I was without power for 12 hours yesterday
Edited on Sat Jan-05-08 04:48 PM by NV Whino
I see this morning that the dead pine down the hill from me broke off. My new windows leak. Leaking windows, downed (temporary) gate and downed limbs at my clients' houses. (I picked one that had electricity and heat and hung out yesterday until my electricity came back on. Nothing tooooo drastic.

The winds were ferocious, but I believe that the peninsula and central CA got hit harder than we did.

18. Hang in there
nice to have options, NV.

The Kirkwood site is most informative for that area- close to 80 inches!! The web cam is ALL snow- I think it is buried.

17. Love the chain!
I think it is the color, the brown chain on the yellow lamp with just a touch of green in the background.

19. Thanks, Maestro
I did take note of the fact that JeffR did not request a B&W conversion.

The lamp light was just right on its own for this one.
