More eagles (Dial up warning)
I shot these this morning on the Mississippi river front in Davenport, Iowa today. We've had a few days sub-zero temps so the river has mostly frozen over. The eagles congregate around the open pools of water beneath Lock and Dam 15 to feed. These birds put on quite a show and are incredible fishers. In the second shot you can see the nesting eagles in the branches of the trees. Every winter hundreds of these birds nest in the area along the banks of the river. I feel quite privileged to be able to observe and photgraph them. Enjoy.

2. A Promaster 100-300 zoom on a Nikon D50
Cheap and works great. I got it originally for my Nikon N60.

4. The Eagle and the Fish.
I posted a link in ItchinJim's last eagle pictures to an Alaskan story about just how much trouble the eagles can get into going after the fish. A couple weeks ago in Kodiak about 50 eagles swarmed a load of fish guts at one of the processors, and 22 of them ended up drowning in fish slime under the weight of the other birds. The rest of them had to be sent to Anchorage for clean-up. Maybe it's a coincidence, but they all turned out to be males.

7. Wow. Thanks for sharing these
All very nice but I really like #4.

I can remember in my yute'... we would actually drive our cars on the Mississippi. I know... probably not the smartest thing I ever did but I'm the same guy that would take my kitty for a bicycle ride in the snow.
:dunce:

9. The eagles here never
cooperate with me.

These are great. Love that you caught the one with the fish but unable to choose a favorite because I love them all. Careful we will start expecting birdie pics from you as often as we expect them from Maestro.
Where has he been with his birds lately anyway?:)
