Post your eclipse photos here
The weather barely cooperated here. We're in a break between rain systems, but it's still kinda hazy and foggy out tonight. Here's two that I thought turned out at least interesting.

1. Here's a dreadful one:

Sky amazingly clear tonight, but that was undercut by having to set up a tripod on a lot of hard frozen snow, and the puppy deciding he had to come out with me and dance around at my feet.

On the brighter side, though my photography skills aren't improving, my excuses for bad photographs are getting better and better.;)

2. With long exposures, that dancing puppy must've been a lot of fun.
Can you sharpen it a little? Otherwise, it's an interesting shot. I like the mottling effect.

3. This is sharpened in RAW with added USM in Photoshop
It was really horrible straight from the camera. The light was beautiful across the face of the moon, but this smudgy souvenir is all I got.

But the good news is Zen enjoyed the bracing night air, and found himself a stick in the snow. So he considers it a successful shoot.

5. Only so much you can do with the sharpen tool
Glad you had fun out with the puppy! That certainly makes it worth it.

14. You got the color that I saw and didn't catch.
I should of read yours first though and blamed the dogs instead of myself. My little dogs thought I was torturing them while the big dog was hoping to sneak up on something edible. They all thought a warm bed would of been better than freezing outside and howled enough to let me know.

4. No eclipse here.
It's really cloudy for one thing and for another I think it happened here around 6:00 p.m. which would be before the moon came up over the mountains.

6. Too bad you missed it, but you have too many incredible shots anyway.

7. Got some that came out ok
but shivering in the cold and snow makes it hard to keep a tripod still. Was really lucky that the clouds parted for a few hours so I could see it. The early ones I could do ok even while shivering since the shutter speed could be faster. Course I shivered more the longer I was out. Hard to believe it was 70 plus degrees a couple days ago.

11. Thanks. It was a good excuse
to get the camera out, it has been so long. Been helping a friend here with her husband. He is in hospice so helping keep the weird relatives away from her and giving her a shoulder to lean on. Probably still won't be around much for a while.

10. Wow! Nice. What lens were you using?
The longest lens I have is my 18-200.

12. I have a cheap Tokina 100-400mm
that was given to me. I say cheap because I had to tape the damn thing to keep it from sliding back to 100 mm while it was pointing up. Now I know why they gave it to me. lol But it worked and now I know to be careful when pointing it up or down. I did crop these a lot. The moon still got lost in the black of the sky full frame.

18. Those are great, thanks.
We had cloudy skies where I live, so I missed it.

13. I love the clouds on the
second one. Though the plane is interesting in the first, makes it a nice abstract. (Guessing it is a plane.)

15. Thanks. The plane is the only thing that kept that shot from being a throw-away
Gives it a lot of interest (imo), particularly on the larger versions where you can see the 'flashes' more clearly.

17. Went to look at it. If I were
where you are I would be tempted to go out on a moonless night and just try to catch the planes like that. A whole series of abstracts like that would be neat.

19. I have a couple already, but a long series would be nice
It's always so *bleepin* windy and cold there though! Maybe we'll get a rare night that's warm *and* clear this spring or summer. I'll try and remember to post a couple here when I take them.

20. Clouds parted briefly
...Totally missed the first half of the show, but just enough clear sky to catch the second half. Then, of course, it started snowing. Five inches so far since. :)
