early morning silhouette of a muscovy. They don't fly very often, mostly just walk around the neighborhood. The photo is in silhouette, even though it was already 7:15 a.m., mostly due to my fear of ISO. But, I kinda like that the only color is a bit of the red on his head and the pink on the tip of his beak - happy accident.
Still trying to get the hang of exposure with this new camera. So used to using a point and shoot that I hesitate pushing the ISO. I probably need to push it a little further, and figure out what else can be done so the 'action' pictures will be more crisp. This would have been a good set for checking out the burst function, but I only thought about it afterwards.
on edit: this third one was his partner landing. Didn't quite catch her before she hit the water.
Went out yesterday morning to catch the sunrise and was surprised to see several gulls with only one leg. Didn't seem to slow them down any. Guess they've had time to adapt.
and finally, another from yesterday morning - This little heron was fishing along the shoreline, and his sudden decision to take-off caught me completely off-guard. Not landing gear (obviously), but I liked the clarity of the water running off his legs and thought I'd share.
Thanks for looking, and please feel free to offer constructive criticism. I'm thinking part of the problem I'm having with exposure is that I'm mostly facing into the sun, so everything is backlit and the details are just lost. Is there a way to overcome that short of getting the sun to rise from another direction?
That, and I have no idea what I'm doing...
