My camera won't work

I do not know what could be wrong. It was perfectly fine and now it won't turn on. I bought new batteries, still nothing. It's a digital with the turn-on at the top that makes the lense pop out, etc. Just nothing. Do digitals have internal batteries too? Any ideas? Anybody do camera repair? It cost several hundred dollars new and I hate to just toss it out.

1. I would take out the new
batteries and use a pencil eraser (or soft cloth over an eraser) gently on the battery contacts. Then try putting the batteries back in and see if that helps.

Beyond that I am at a loss but it might work if the camera has been sitting around with batteries in it.

2. Not to be pedantic, but are you sure the batteries
are in the right way

4. Every which way
Even the way that I didn't think was right. Nothing. Thanks.

5. If the eraser trick didn't work, you could try dedicated
contact cleaner or pure alcohol.

I've had this issue intermittently with my point'n'shoot. Cleaning the contacts tends to resolve it, though only temporarily.

There are internal lithium batteries in digitals, but I don't know if the failure of one would cause the camera not to power up. I believe they're simply for date setting and so forth.

7. I will try that
although I'm really feeling like it's something internal. Thanks!

6. How long have you had this camera?
Digital p/s cameras are (relatively, depending on the price!) disposable after their life span. If it's past the warranty timeline, Google for a repair facility and repair quotes. Most likely, you'll have to send your camera in and wait for a response. And, if the repair is 50% or more of what it cost new, it's time to go shopping for a cool new camera! Like this one!

8. A while
It's a Fujifilm Finepix S602Zoom. It cost a lot, and I have lenses for it too. I think the lenses are interchangeable so I'll probably get this one if I can't fix it, although it costs less than the one I have did when it was new. I have to have it for business.

9. Considering the price of that new Fuji, I wouldn't even consider a repair job.
Digital camera technology has come light years since 2002 when your S602 Zoom hit the market, and while I'm no expert I would wager the cost of fixing the defunct one will be more than it's current value. That new one at your link has a a lens with more zoom, more than 2 1/2 times more pixels, and a boatload of up-to-date capabilities and technology at a price that I would bet is about or maybe even less than it will cost to fix your old one. Neither camera is an interchangeable lens SLR, so I'm guessing you might have some accessory wide or tele attachments specific for your old camera. They might not work on the new one, but considering it's got a 18x optical zoom, you may not need them anyway. And you get to write it off as a business expense, too!
