2. We have an old Siamese, a 5-year old beagle, & a 9-month old
Shepherd/Lab/Husky/Border Collie mix. They like their creature comforts, sure, but to describe any of them as domestic is a big stretch. This house is total anarchy.

Still, I'll abide by your stipulation.

Edited on Tue Apr-29-08 08:14 PM by mth44sc
I live with two cats and three dogs. Still - somehow - they are more domesticated than I am. Go figure :-)

on edit

PS Abbey was totally freaked out when I told her she was excluded...

17. Great shot!
Abbey looks like she must be watching a Bush speech there, or something equally horrible.

14. I think that would be a furocracy.
Since I have feathered and scaled inhabitants in addition to the furred, I guess I'd have to call my domain a petocracy with a strong furocracy slant. Although I must say, my missing cornsnake, Maizie, has ruled quite efficiently from her secret, undisclosed location. Ew...sounds awfully familiar, doesn't it?

18. I misread that as "furorocracy"
which would also describe it well.

And yes, that undisclosed location thing does remind me of someone.

8. One fast question:
Do the non-domesticated animals have to be in the wild, or can animals in zoos and the like be entered?

All of mine are in the wild, but it would be nice to know what I'd be competing against.

10. Zoos are good
We have to take care of the city folk. We certainly know - though contained - those animals are wild.

30. Buzzwinkle is dead...
 Fish & Game had to put him down a few weeks ago because he was in very poor health ... maybe a little cirrhosis from all the fermented crabapples? It was a sad day here in Anchorage.

19. What, no poll?
Is this a new trend? What happened to the democracy of our group -- or did I somehow miss choices?

Just curious.

21. the means by which the theme was chosen
were arbitrary & capricious (both of 'em, I swear)

this was defined by the 9th circuit thusly back in '92

(9th Cir.'92). A clear error of judgment; an action not based upon consideration of relevant factors and so is arbitrary, capricious, an abuse of discretion or otherwise not in accordance with law or if it was taken without observance of procedure required by law...

actually - given the terrific wildlife photos I've seen here over the months - I just thought it would make a good theme. I was rather surprised that it hadn't been used as a theme before. And it seems like it would be a theme that was easily accessable to just about everyone.

22. If I remember right,
early on in this group when we started having contests, the winner got to choose the topic. I think originally the polls were started because someone was having trouble deciding on a topic and asked for suggestions, then a poll. I think it's still the winner's choice whichever way he/she wants to do it.

But I prefer giving the group a chance to submit ideas and then having everyone vote on it. JHMO.

25. I like the switch up.
There are some themes that show up again and again but never get voted on to win. It might take the winner deciding to just go with it to get them in there. Motion and night are two I can think of that still haven't made it. Then there is cats and/or dogs and the wildlife one. It will probably be a mix for a while but doesn't hurt to switch things up and keeps us on our toes.
Now to find out if the white reindeer are still around here.

Oh - that's right. We aren't voting.

Never mind :-)

(they sure would make for nice themes though)
