Some historic houses from my trip to Oakville last weekend
Further to this thread from the other day, here are some of the town's most picturesque old homes.

The Thomas House (1829) with the first Oakville post office (1835) at right:

Two views of Erchless (1858), the estate of Robert Chisholm, whose father founded the town:

House of Capt. Francis Brown, mariner (c. 1870):

House of John Porquin, millwright (1839):

Potter's Folly (c. 1870):

House of George Freestone, plasterer (1887):

House of Capt. Samuel McGiffin, master mariner (1859):

1. I want to
live in Potter's Folly? Think I can pick it up in a foreclosure auction?

Lovely pictures. Makes me want to take a road trip. :-)

2. I'm afraid Mz Pip and I would have to engage in a bidding war over "Potter's Folly"...
...although I will concede it to her if I can have Erchless...and someone to do the lawn mowing, garden-tending. :D

Again, a very nice series of pics Jeff!

3. This architectural historian
approves of the photos! My specialty is mid-late 19th architecture, so I love seeing these beauties. :D
