Restoring an old memory..

A friend's house was heavily damaged in a fire a month or so ago, many things can be replaced but keepsakes cannot.

One of the casualties of the fire was the only picture of her grandfather she had, I offered to see what I could do in the computer to restore some of the damage, here is the original and my first attempt at restoration. I see a few things I still need to work on but my friend was thrilled with the results so far when I printed an 8x10 proof.

I would hate to lose all my old family photos. I have a few that date back to the turn of the century. I would hate to lose them. I've started scanning them and will put them all on a disk that I can copy and give to each of my kids. That way if one gets destroyed, there will be a duplicate.

It's easy enough to do; it just takes time.

I did a bit more and colored it to more closely match the original.
