1. My dear Mira!
These are both stunning, though I prefer the Ringling Museum one a bit more...

The symmetry and perspective of that building really appeal to me!

Thanks for posting!

2. Front door for you when you come ! Just kidding......

Thanks CaliforniaPeggy, I am glad you did what you did with the title of the beautiful Monet Garden. Did you also go to see the Rodin Museum and gardens?

3. LOL!
Nah, didn't get to Rodin Gardens...

We were on a tour, and although it was an excellent one, we did miss stuff.

I LOVE Paris! And France too, for that matter...

You never know...one day, I might indeed come visit...

5. Any time ! I have a guest room that is always ready, that would save you
some travelling expenses, and NC is a heckofa wonderful state to visit. Especially in the fall, considering the Blue Ridge Parkway and the deciduous forests of the mountains unlike any other in the world.
In the Rodin museum I got to take a photo of The Thinker.
This is a good while back, not digital, Tri X b/w. I doubt I have the negative. But you know what, I had an 8x 10 print of that on my fridge until milk splatters or the sun's rays through the blinds (like in the hallway next to it as you now know) wore it out.

4. I especially like the first one.
The color and the perspective are wonderful. It really draws you in.

8. Thanks ! I'm so glad to get feedback. Evaluating what people respond to is part
of what I am learning. I did not in any way seriously consider submitting that one, and it makes me happy you and CA Peggy both like it.
It is not perfect in clarity and representative of superior equipment as the photos of the real pros who submit their work, though I realize the subject matter is comparable, my depiction is not.

So, at this point, I think my submissions must be sort of out of the box and find approval for other reasons.

Actually, I look forward to my own changes of attitude and decisions for what to submit in the future.
My son and my grandson both (one a graduate and one a HS student of visual design and production at the University of NC School or the Arts) are both unhappy I submitted the blacksmith in b/w)

You, too, are always welcome in NC.
:)

10. The photography is a constant learning process.
I've only been doing it for about five years myself. When I started I didn't know an aperture from a hole in the ground. Everything I know I learned from the people in this group, and I learn more from them each day.

Like I've always said, this is the best group on DU.

6. #1 has a Moorish feel to it..
Reminiscent of La Alhambra.

In other words, art of the highest order.

7. So...
that first shot is the side entrance to your home? Nice digs... :D

Have you read any Sontag yet? Readings on Puritanism, Anglicans, and the English Civil Wars seem to be consuming most of my time...

9. Glad you reminded me. I have it on a tall stack of books next to my bed.
Before Bush was elected I read a lot. I did not have a TV in my bedroom. Then the calamity happened and I had to start helping to govern, and that involved a PC and a TV in my bedroom.

I recently made steps to disengage. I bought an IPod with 80 gigs. I have so far transferred about 50 CDs to it. I am listening to music, Opera, classical, the memories of pre-Bush, and am beginning to blossom again.

Susan Sontag is on the list.
Thanks for asking.

And no, the side entrance to my home is the one that illuminates the painting, the other photo is really the walkway of the Ringling Museum :).

The painting illuminated by the light of the slats is by a young woman called Spoon Popkin, who went to school with my son.
Her mother, Elsie Dinsmore Popkin, is someone you might want to google for an eyeful of wonderfulness.
Elsie died about 3 years ago unexpectedly and way too early with breast cancer. At the time of her death her small pastel paintings commanded about 6000 on a good day.
I bought a 2 x 3 oil from her for $ 100 30 years ago.
Nice !
