Here's a closed gate at the Lock and Dam #11 at Dubuque, Iowa.



Here's the other end of the lock chamber open.

Thanks for posting these.

These types of "gates" and locks would have been a great addition to the eclectic gates and doors entries. I love the top one, but I have to say the it may have had more eye appeal if the trees had fall colors. So, I see why you didn't enter them. Still, to me, a river rat of sorts, they are beautiful.

2. They weren't open to the public last fall
The place wasn't open to the public last fall, they had it all closed off so they could rebuild the visitors deck, put in new benches and picnic tables, and make a new turn-around area. So I was quite pleased to discover it open again yesterday.
