1. Whoa! A station that's also a museum
;)

Great shots and it looks like you have a really nice city to live in :D
I love the contrast of the old church with all of the modern buildings around it.

2. Most subway stations in the city look like public bathrooms
but they managed to scrape up $5 million to renovate this one, and it turned out well.

That church (from 1879) was almost pulled down when the building wrapping around it was first announced. It took a lot of heated public meetings before a compromise plan was reached that saved it. Most such stories here don't end as happily.

3. JeffR - been meaning to say this and did not get there - these simply sing !
and the bike racks are something I would LOVE to peddle in the (deep) south where I live and where I had to convince the new YWCA (largest, newest on the East Coast) which happens to be a mile from my house and I like to bike to it, TO PUT IN A BIKE RACK, which they did, and ever so mundane it is!
Geez.

Love the subway photos. Hugely.

4. Thank you
Unless the weather is bad and I have to take the subway, I get around the city by bike, but mostly in recent years the cyclists have been winning fewer and fewer concessions as the traffic worsens. So it was nice to see this little symbolic friendly gesture made. There's room for more bikes now than when the post & ring type things were there, too. A little breath of civilized air before the city goes back to the usual clown show of unenlightened government and everything gets a little more shabby and pinched.
