"Here is my first and the long-awaited photo ..."
It was taken in the Winter of 2007, at a farm block a small distance from here, around the coast, called 'Rawhiti.' I had volunteered as a Marshall for an offroad cycling fundraiser for the local primary school {with the intention of photograhing Mother Nature}. Oh, and I did manage a few pics of the competitors ;)

1. May I be the first to tell you how peaceful and beautiful it is and how
we lost out not having it in the contest.
I think the soft colors are lovely and I very much like the line of the posts and gate be repeated in the horizon line.
Welcome to you from so far away as New Zealand.
Post your photos anytime, contest or not. We will be very happy to see them.

5. I am glad if it has that New Zealand vibration
I am aware it may not be as stunning as some are in the comp, yet I felt it had something beautifully simple about it, and indeed it was the fall of the light through the trees and the quaintness of the gate, such a rural view, that first attracted me.

ThankYou for your warm comments!

6. It's a photo I would seek out to bring me joy and peace. That
means it is very "stunning".

3. Okay, now I want more
How about the cyclists?

At some point I might recommend "Let's get physical" for a contest theme. I think it would be great to have pictures of people involved in either sports competitions or just plain exercising.

4. No problem!
I did manage to get a couple of good shots, even one of my impromptu "taxi" I was considering posting too!

Yes, a theme around people pushing their own boundaries would be cool! :)

Thanks!

7. You are not doing Maeryanne any favours, guys
She might get the impression that we are nice, cordial and trying to help each other in these parts of the forums.

Its a shitty pic that in no way caries any form of calm fantasy like atmosphere.

(Is this where I add that sarcasm thingy?)

18. Oh, but you are too kind ...
and you made me laugh, which right now is just what I need {and, thanks to all the other cordials here too ;)} :hi:

I shall now make it my express mission to only post the "shittiest" images AND as many with "calm fantasy like atmospheres" as I possibly can ... Oh, here's that thang :sarcasm:

8. That is a beautiful shot, Maeryanne :)
I find myself looking more at the semi-upper right portion, where the shadows get all ripply with the equally uneven ground :)

Do you have any more like this?

14. Why, is that an inverse invitation
for me to show you my "etchings" sometime??? ;) ;)

I am glad you like it, and I do have a couple more taken in that area. Even now, I can recall the rolling hills and these sculpturally beautiful stands of trees ~ poplars I think. There was a flock of rather startled sheep, earlier on too, I would need to check my archives to see whether I managed to capture the rather cameraskittish animals :) Of course I told them I meant them no harm, and came with good intention ;) AND I stayed this side of their gate :)

10. That could almost be in my back yard..
And I'm close to halfway around the earth from there..

It makes me feel very connected, I have distant relations in New Zealand and a first cousin in Sydney.

Did I mention how much I enjoy the internet?

I really think it's helping to bring the world together, especially when we can communicate and share images with people ten thousand miles away the way we are now.

Thanks for posting.

how cool is that??? We are practically related already! ;) AND, I so agree about the powers of the internet ~ I had a desire for a computer way before I got the opportunity to own one!

So,where is your by?

21. Dallas, Georgia..
We're outside of Atlanta, you might have heard of it. :)

I had a computer long before the internet was a reality for the average person, even before Bulletin Board Systems (BBS) became popular.

I've talked with people all over the world on the computer, even before the internet I was logging on to BBSs like Ciarcia's Circuit Cellar that had people from just about everywhere on it.

24. Beautiful
What a serene and pastoral setting.

I can imagine myself there on a blanket, with a picnic basket, some wine, cheese and a good book. And never leaving.

25. Ordinary objects oriented in ways not familiar, or out of context can
twist the mind a bit. My wife sees this as a very sad image.
