The dogwood is finally and gloriously blooming - these are from yesterday

They're beautiful. We got about an inch of snow overnight.

2. One inch is approximately all we got this winter in my town. Once.

:) I'm just anxiously awaiting to see how many of the perennials I planted last year survive the winter. I'm hoping quite a few because even though it was so cold in January, we did have a good layer of snow, so everything should have stayed nice and snug under there. It always seems like such a miracle when the little shoots start poking up out of the ground. It won't be long now. I'm sure by the time I get back from CA I'll see a big difference -- it's actually kind of nice that I'll be in the southland during this transition period.
