1. That is a nifty bird feeder
Is that yours? You have the coolest stuff in your garden. I like how the jay is mirroring the shape of the feeder. It's like they're both looking at me.

2. Thanks for your comments. Is that a bluejay? It is a beautiful bird. I do have a
yard with nicely arranged interesting things, you've only seen some of it, so that leaves room to show more in the future. I work from home and spend a lot of time here, and many of the pictures I take happen right here.
I got the pitchfork feeder in Asheville, at the "Screen Door" - both WJMS and Tekisui would know where that is :)
Neighbors and walking folks linger and examine all my stuff, and every now and then someone brings me something they think will fit in. I have 4 specific "installations" that commemorate neighborhood changes and happenings. It's fun.
I have in mind two walks I will post here, one through my back and front yards, with explanations, and one through the filthiest rich areas of town in the heat of the summer, showing Southern Mansions without spanish moss in the trees, but with great manicured beauty, and astonishing spreads.

What makes me happy about the blue bird is that it's my first try at working with the lens I bought on ebay, 100 -300.
And this photo made me laugh. It's imperfect, but funny. And it said: You wanna take a crack at this......

3. I'm pretty sure that's a blue jay
We have Stellar jays (black with iridescent blue) and Whiskey Jacks (grey), but not the blue and white ones like that.

Your new lens sounds like fun and it looks like you are putting it to good use already. I'll keep an eye out for more of your walk and garden pictures.

oy, we have so many blue jays in this neck of the woods...they are such bullies at the feeder.

5. oooo, love your backyard pics
Your birdfeeder rivals the face on the tree. So cool!!! Yup, a bluejay.

I keep seeing a cardinal around my house but oh my gosh they are skittish.

6. Handsome Blue Jay Mira
The feeder adds much character to the image too. I have very few pics of blue jays because they are so skittish, but they are beautiful!

7. Thanks for even looking, Maestro. For me to show you my (sortof first) conscious
photo of a bird, is like casting a swine before pearls.
But I had such fun, i bought a 100-300 lens, and after learning to put it on I needed to see what it does.
In the meantime, I have a laughing morning dove in the same feeder. I may show you - but probably not. And the bluejay came back many times.

8. I don't think it was camera shake...
but that your focus was locked on parts of the feeder, rather than the bird. Congrats on getting the blue jay at all. And the feeder is just wonderful.

9. You are right. That's what happened, I could only click because
I know he saw me. But he's been back - he is gorgeous.
