5. whoo - hoo someone is asking ME about a lens-
what is amazing is that I had put my Quantaray for Minolta 100-300 into the basket of my bicycle. It's the only lens I own other than the one on my Sony alpha 100.
The owls (there were 2) sat patiently and waited for me. I think they posed happily, and I could have gotten them with my regular lens, too.

They were about 10" tall, maybe they were babies.
