More Dawn Photos--North, South, East and West (this AM)
Edited on Mon Oct-11-10 10:28 AM by Celebration
From the same location, parking lot of Patriot Lake, within minutes of each other

North:

South:

East:

West:

I gotcha! The photographer's job is to point the camera the right direction. The shoes??? I have no idea. Did they drag the lake for shoes dropped from paddle boats?

A couple more whimsical shots

So glad they put the matching shoes together!

1. South is my favorite
Though West did make me laugh. Kind of a surprise as I was expecting landscape!

2. made me laugh too
Especially because that whole pile of shoes was there but somehow the two duct taped ones were matched up as a pair.

And why was that fake flower sticking up out of a haystack by the shoes?

Looked like someone started to put the reds together but maybe gave up. Why????

I have no idea the back story of the shoes, just sitting there in the parking lot. I'm going to keep checking up on them.

In any case, this is just a reminder that one picture does not set the entire scene. We really do have blinders on when we snap photos.

9. Thanks hippywife!
I couldn't get any closer because the tree is on an island in the lake. There are usually some blackbirds on it, but just more than usual together this morning.

6. cross country runners??
I had one of those myself and they do go through a lot of shoes! I actually have some shoes almost this muddy. The water is so low here and I keep stepping in stuff that's almost like quicksand, which is normally the bottom of the ponds. I feel like a couch potato compared to my daughters, who still do things like marathons and half marathons. I get a little nostalgic myself there when I see all the cross country runners do their training in the park.

13. Love it!!
Thanks for sharing. Cross country is a great sport. It takes a lot of drive to be able to just make it through all the practices, much less get good times, or win, for goodness sakes.

Here is my youngest (in red shirt) crossing the finish line in the Tokyo Marathon last year. They are very organized and take automatic pictures of the runners at various points, so I have a lot of pictures of her from the start to the finish.

11. It's a great picture. I like them all and have a special fondness for the ducks
in the "East" picture...just serenely swimming along.

I would love to know why all those shoes ended up where they did...

15. Love the shots
West is definitely amusing. Perhaps it's the running shoe equivalent of the elephant graveyard. Maybe the duct tape ones are a brief flirtation with mummification...

17. I like that idea
Duct tape has been used for almost everything. Why not mummification?

18. Heh
My fave is the one with the random weird "flower" that was stuck in the haystack!

Thanks.

19. It's so great to stumble on these random things.
And even better to catch them and bring them back to share.

October 10, 2010 Runners claw their way through the mud pit during the LUVMUD 5k fun race at Shelby Farms Sunday afternoon. Some 900 runners, most of which arrived in costume, turned out for the fund raising run to benefit Habitat for Hope, a non-profit established to care for families that have a child that is critically or chronically ill.
