1. That is phenomenal. Rare in a lifetime shot and opportunity. I'm glad you were there.
The double lines on the ground, on the left, add a lot to this image.
One of the best rainbows posted here since I've been around. But WJMS will give you a run for it...

I'm all for a contest, I'll just have to watch from the sidelines.
Gorgeous!

3. Yes!
Hanalei Valley. It's the overlook just by the shopping area. I was driving out, felt a bit guilty that i'd never stopped there (I avoid scenic overlooks, especially the ones marked so) and pulled over. Within two minutes a rainbow started to form, within a couple minutes after that it turned into a double rainbow. Then rain. The last shot I took, just a minute before this one, had water spots on the filter. In the three weeks I was there it was the only rainbow I saw. I figure it was Kauai letting me know that I should come back soon. Just have to find some gigs there and I'm back.

6. When you go back
Drive down the road on the right of the taro field and go for a hike through the bamboo forest. It's spectacular. Be sure to wear a thick layer of mosquito repellant.

Kauai is one of my favorite places. We first went there for a belated honeymoon 35 years ago. There were no resorts on the Hanalei side of the island. It was all pasture land. We stayed at Princeville which was a small condo complex then camped up at park at the top of the island.

It's changed a lot in all those decades but is still spectacular.

7. You're fortunate
to have been there before it got all touristed out. It's still spectacular. I did that hike. Wondrous and tons of mosquitoes.

NOT down-playing Hawaii, of course!
