We MUST ENSURE PERMANENT MAJORITY STATUS
We must NEVER allow the republicans from ever...EVER!... achieving majority status in the congress. Although the republicans STOLE a couple of elections for senator that we should have won to prevent our majority status in the senate (go to hell, Joe the Plumber Senator Lieberman), we can at least effect a lot of rules that will ensure republicans will NOT Have ANY say as far as legislation.

We've got to do WHATEVER WE CAN to stifle republican input, republican insidious measures, and republicans in general from any part of the government. In short, they are CRIMINALS...nothing short of that word can suffice! And they must always be treated as such.

2. Need to bring out Palin's flaws
She is planning to run in a few years and we don't want that. No one should get complacent about her AT ALL!

11. She's a nightmare that just won't go away.
I know many people think she could never stand a chance in 2012 or any time. But then there was junior...not just one term, but 2. I try never to underestimate any bizarre and unlikely thing from happening in politics. Including Poison Palin.

25. This is true!
Who would have ever thought Bush would have got re-elected in 2004. Palin reminds me of a female version of him. One thing that could make her even worse is I remember her saying if she were elected president she'd let her husband work on major legislation for her.

It pays to NEVER underestimate. That's what got us Scott Brown.

20. I hate to point this out . . .
But we have bigger worries than "Caribou Barbie." Three-quarters of the electorate think she's unqualified -- and she's been making herself look foolish ever since. Right now, the conservatives on Capitol Hill are a much more serious problem.

5. I'll respond to you as you have a legitimate concern...
...other than just saying "Go to bed."

You are fearful that I advocate a one party rule.

ON THE CONTRARY.

I advocate a MULTIPLE-PARTY approach. But with the republican party, which is actually a CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION acting under the guise of a political party, COMPLETE with all the accouterments of said party, including a military, financial apparatus, etc, it made SENSE to focus on them as ONE PARTY.

NOW that they are floundering, we need to DESTROY its remnants. Remember, their positions are virtually against not just normal decent folks here in the US, but against the going trend around the world to become more progressive, economically and socially just in all venues.

In short, they are a ROGUE, CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION. They NEED to be DESTROYED. We can only do that if our party is NOT fractured, as it had been in previous elections by the Greens and other third party excursions.

ONCE we destroy the republican party; more specifically, we negate and make illegal many of its tenets that were not part of normal, political discourse, but actually had more in common with thuggery, thievery, murder, and despotic control, THEN we can open up the political conversation with MORE parties. Parties such as the Green Party, Peace and Freedom, various Socialist Parties, and other progressive parties. In other words TRUE politics of ideals, NOT of force, NOT of economic deprivation, NOT of environmental destruction, and certainly NOT of excluding the rest of the world.

THAT is why the republican party MUST be destroyed and rendered absolutely impotent. It's because I DESPISE ONE PARTY RULE just as much, if NOT MORE..than the NEXT GUY, including yourself.

You need to see the forest through the trees...but our job has ONLY JUST BEGUN.

DESTROY the republican party ....ASAP!!

8. I believe that many of your statements hit very near the mark
I think the bush administration is the most corrupt faction to ever step foot in the white house. A great number within the administration are criminals and the rest are neglect and derelict in their obligation to halt them and inform the american people of what is/was going on.

But I think you are a little misguided as far as wishing to destroy the republican party. Do you think that our finacial apparatus OR the way we use our military will change under an Obama administration? The biggest scam ever inflicted on us americans has been the Federal Reserve that can print money out of thin air, and charge our Federal Government interest on the money that it creates from nothing.I want to repeat this idea incase you missed it, they 'borrow' the money from the 'Federal' Reserve (for example 1 billion dollars) then they want the Federal Government (using your sweat and labor in the form of taxes) to pay them back the principal (1 billion) PLUS interest (about another .2 billion, totally made up figure as I do not know the exact amount)but where does that extra interest money come from (how do you pay back 1.2 billion when only 1 billion exist? YOU DON'T, you are left in debt). And who does our federal government owe a debt to if we borrow from the 'federal' reserve? hmmm Same goes for you when you borrow from the bank, they print the money out of no where (cause believe me they are not holding on to all that money inside those empty vaults) and they charge you interest on it. So you are forced to rob peter to pay paul. Democrats nor republicans will touch that issue. We'd rather argue over the by-products of this fail/failing system instead of freeing our people from this slavery.

And will the democrats finally bring our troops home??? I doubt it. Now that they have control of the military apparatus they are talking about keeping 40k troops permanently in Iraq, and 'surgin' all over the afgans. Doesn't sound like much change from Emperor Bush's policies.

When will we finally begin the debate on how improved our world would be if we stopped bombing people all together? Of course, not including true threats to our society and our way of life... but with a military budget bigger than all the other countries in the world combined, and given the current stretch and reach of our imperialist military might, who would be in a position to do that? Certainly not the Afgans and certainly not the Iraqis. Maybe we should just come home... There's an Idea.

12. Saying that actually hurts your cause...
To say that the Republican Party is just a bunch of criminals means that they didn't buy into the lies about Iraq but helped to create them. Which means you can go and say the same thing about Democrats in Congress as they had just as much ability to do that as the Republicans did. The only was you can support the idea that the lies about Iraq were created by Bush administration, is by saying that the rest of the Republican party had nothing to do with it, as only Bush would have access (unless you are a huge conspiracy nut). You say that it was the entire Republican party, then it was most of the Democratic party too (including most people with high level positions in the Obama admistration, Biden and Clinton for two, both of whom said many times Iraq HAD WMDs (note I didn't say might have). You need to stick to your guns, either everyone was fooled, or no one was, unless you can prove Republican members of Congress and the RNC had a part in the plot (as well as other Republicans that weren't even in politics at the time) or you can name me some crimes from the first Bush administration (I am sure you will try, but nothing will come close to saying out or Rwanda until it was too late to do any good, to bomb the Chinesse embassy, or to keep using sanctions on a country knowing full well it was killing 100,000s of people.)

4. You know how a party does that?
By listening to really wise men like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2IdR-6c1CU

Or, by ignoring them at their own, immenent peril and getting all "Beltway Stupid"

It shouldn't all that hard a choice, but we are, and will likely remain, a thick and dull people.

... and then you can start expelling any remaining ReThugs. Same for the House (get to 2/3 majority and start expelling).

14. Democratic incumbents are far too sweet!!
Edited on Thu Mar-19-09 12:18 PM by flaminbats
During Clinton's first year in office the Democratic majority in Congress was far too sweet to Republicans like Phil Gramm, Newt Gingrich, John Linder, and Mitch McConnell. As a result Republicans used every opportunity to amend healthcare reform, filibustering Clinton's modest proposal to death while ranting and raving against all the constructive alternatives..like the Cooper/Chaffee plans..or "Clinton light".

Democrats talked of bipartisanship, cooperation, and of deficit reduction. Republicans preached against liberal tax increases, Whitewater, and socialized medicine. Democrats kissed Republican butt, cut wasteful government spending, and treated Republicans as part of the family. Democrats gave Republicans unlimited time to speak out against all legislation in the House and Senate. Then, in 1994, Republicans won majorities in both Houses of Congress!

The Republican majority in Congress cut off Democrats off in mid-sentence, didn't allow Democratic alternatives or amendments to Republican legislation, and held hearings to impeach Bill Clinton.

Democrats need Harry and Louise this year, not to block health care reform, but to increase our majority. We need Harry and Louise, not to sweet-talk Republicans..but to give them a needed kick in the ass! We need Harry and Louise to give these neocons a needed dose of their own medication in 2010!

We need a whole lot more than a goofy ad campaign! We need to get healthcare reform with or without the Republicans . . . and the balls to force feed a bunch of reactionary goobers their own damned tea bags! And that's just for starts!

15. majority status by default?
I am afraid that we will get a democrat super majority soon. As taxes are raised on the productive half of society and we keep increasing the number of non payers into the tax system, the money will leave this country in droves. I was listening to the head of Canada and they are lowering their corporatetax rates to a maximum of 25% within the next couple of years. Watch for corporations to start moving to Canada soon.

It's only a matter of time before the Democratic majority becomes as corrupt as Republicans, then the GOP is the under dog and history repeats itself again.

17. I find fault with this.
Can we talk for a second? I have no problem with cutting pieces out of the republican party. In fact, I encourage it. But here's the way I see it: if the republicans can take the election without resulting to dirty tactics, they've earned it. It's not popular here, I know, but if they genuinely convince the American majority that their way of thinking is the right way of thinking, then more power to them. That is, after all, what the founding principle of the system was in the first place. Now, I definitely agree that a larger base of parties is required... but eliminating one party isn't the way to do that.

The only thing worse than a two-party system is, after all, a single party system. That cannot happen. Assuming that a single party will be willing to give up any of its newfound power is almost criminally dangerous. That isn't how new systems start, that's how EMPIRES start.

. . . I am curious as to how you think you're going to pull this off. Could we at least start with silencing the likes of Limbaugh, Hannity and Beck? I think they would be illegal under a national "noise pollution abatement" law.

23. It depends
It all depends on the economy.

If Obama and the Dems can lower the unemployment rate and get people back to work there shouldn't be any problem.

With a current unemployment rate of 10.2%, there's A LOT of work ahead.
