KOEB Meeting 1/8/08 New Hampshire Primary Edition Part Deux
Edited on Tue Jan-08-08 10:18 PM by BerryBush

And in case you were wondering, John Edwards is the Son of a Mill Worker.

...sorry.

Now I gotta ask: what are the pie wedge things for?!?

2. My pleasure.
I gather the pie wedges have something to do with where taxes go? Looks like the biggest wedge says "PENTAGON."

3. How long do you think before Ol' Man Thompson packs it in, eh?
He's gotta be awful tired of his measly results.

Edwards sure sounded better than McCain.

Oh boy, Keith just revealed that he has watched "Desperate Housewives." Gosh, wonder why????

5. So they project Hillary, but not by much.
But I guess this counts as a huuuge victory because she was expected to lose.

And Tweety says "she got the lioness's share of the women's vote." Oh pleeez... :puke:

am I crazy or is Hillary now borrowing from John's campaign?

Back and forth still those that are left. sigh Could someone tell the damn helicopters to quit flying over and setting the dogs off?

21. They're all borrowing from him.
That's why most politicians are sleazy. And I still stand by what I originally said: Hillary will say and do ANYTHING to get elected.

24. I know they are and it is how they do it but
a bit of news coverage on him and that he said it first would be nice. I am kinda glad it isn't all over yet though even if it will be by the time I get to vote.

30. I've tryed not to say anything negative about anyones candidate
but I thought Hillary and Obama have both taken John's message.

He's been talking about change and making things better from the get-go. Yet over the last three days both of them have taken his message and wove it into their speeches like its always been there.

I really hate that. And the worst part is the damn media who are all over both Obama and Hillary mention their message of hope and change like it is the first time they have heard it.

:argh: A pox on all the MSM.

35. I purposely stayed undecided for a long while
but it has pushed me toward Edwards. If while undecided it frustrates me I know it has to frustrate his supporters. Also the more I watch what is going on economy wise the more I lean toward Edwards. Course I may have no say in the end anyway beyond being able to send some dollars his way.

48. This is going to sound unfair
Edited on Tue Jan-08-08 11:55 PM by BerryBush
but I think Edwards is in a tough spot because of his opponents.

When people are in the mood for novelty and change, a woman (even if it IS Hillary) represents that, and a black man represents that, far more easily and, if you will, superficially, than yet another white guy from the South. No matter how qualified the white guy from the South is or how solid his platform is. That's what Edwards is up against, in part.

He looked better four years ago when he was just one of a collection of white guys, none of which seemed to be offering anything radically new.

Edit: I think the only guy who could transcend being "just another white guy from the South" now would be Gore. Precisely because of what he's become in the past few years.

51. That may be it. Though back to coverage would help him a
bit. The change thing I didn't really notice, hell we all want change after these god awful * years. Now they are picking up on his hope, populist and middle class message. There the least some media could do is mention it has always been John's message.

On the black or woman thing. I would love to see either as President. We are so backward in that it hasn't happened yet. But I need more than just sex or race to vote for. I loved the Clinton era but am not sure Hill can bring all the good back and we all know the repukes would be bringing the bad back. On both I am not so sure I want a candidate that is willing to "work" with the repukes and "reach" across the aisle. It won't work because the repukes won't let it. I am watching that bs in my own state. Hell our repukes are trying to over turn legislation by taking it to court when they couldn't stop it from passing. I want someone that is pissed and that is willing to fight the corporations and the repukes. Oh well least it isn't all over just yet and I am back to studying the candidates though I do think I will slide some cash John's way, along with Nancy (For Sharon because I trust her judgment in her state.)

BTW I think the helicopters are finished for the night. The neighbors consensus is that we think one almost crashed in the woods across the street. Your tax dollars at work since they were were either National Guard or Army. Hard to tell at night.

44. But don't wish a pox on Keith.
And let's be honest, "change" is not an original theme for a campaign. It's been used since forever, against both incumbents and opponents merely associated with the old and the past. It'll continue to be used by candidates for as long as it's effective.

Perhaps a note of caution, telling us to not be so anxious to predict in advance, but rather, wait and see what's happening.

Tom, it was the nicest, most delicate slap-down of Tweety I've ever seen. :)

Every sign in Obama's camp said "CHANGE." In Hillary's they say "READY FOR CHANGE."

If anything should be clear by now, it's that it won't be a cakewalk...yet, at least. But if it means no one will have an easy win, it also means no one has lost yet. At least not these two, anyway.

50. OK, here's the mistake.
Tweety said that in 1936, a poll incorrectly predicted Alf Landon would win the presidential election over FDR because it was taken over the telephone, and that because so few people had telephones at the time because they were too poor and no one could afford one, the poll underrepresented poor voters.

Nope. He's talking about a poll taken IN the Literary Digest, NOT by telephone. Although, apparently, respondents were asked on their ballots whether they owned cars or phones, just for statistical purposes. But it's not true that very few people in the USA had phones in 1936 anyway. There appears to be debate this day as to why that poll was so wrong--which makes it even more relevant to what happened tonight, actually.

we should place bets.

Just when I was so sure I had the house and computer entirely to myself- and that all the other residents were out and about for the evening- they all marched in the front door with the west coast dd in tow!!
They had all gone to the airport to retrieve her for a surprise visit!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They really got me, too! Usually, I figure these thigs out waaaay before the event.
I guess the politics are taking over my brain.

Thanks for all your time, BerryBush. I will keep checking in every night, this is one of the best spots on DU.
