It will be interesting to see the justification for the ruling. Probably that NBC is a business and can pick and choose whom to feature on its news programming.

It doesn't matter.
They probably cannot force MSNBC to have Kucinich any more than they can force them to offer a forum to Lyndon LaRouche.

You want a way out of this shithole you dug for yourself? Put Kucinich on the stage anyway.

And if you're man enough to do that, I hope he's man enough to tell you to go fuck yourselves live on air & then walk off.

60. I don't see why they fought him so viciously myself.
Maybe it was the principle of the thing, but all it did was give him an opportunity to self-righteously grandstand and play the martyr role. And he LOVES that. And it makes them look like the big bad guys.

He's going to milk this for all it's worth.

I hope KO mentions the supreme court decision today- reported that banks and financial institutions involved with corporations when investors are defrauded, the banks and financial institutions are NOT responsible.

Another example of the SCOTUS last 2 nominees being allows confirmation- and corporatism is ushered in! Corporations are MORE EQUAL than citizens!

It might be along the same principles that Don Imus doesn't have a "right" to have a TV show.

25. Here's the good news.
If we were still a three-TV-network country, this would amount to a total Kucinich freeze-out of one-third of a major medium for communication of his message.

We're not anymore. Not only do we have other networks, we have the Internet.

MSNBC may be silencing Kucinich, but they're just one outlet.

67. I believe our legal system has decided they aren't "our airwaves" anymore.
We live in a cable and satellite dish and fiberoptic world. Because we are no longer limited to watching and listening to sound and pictures broadcast over a narrow range of frequencies, the media need no longer use our limited resource known as "airwaves" to reach us. Therefore, they no longer have an obligation to serve the public interest. They are free to do whatever they think will make them the most money.

We are very fortunate that right now, MSNBC thinks that showing us Keith at 8 ET five nights a week will make them the most money. If they ever decide that's not the case, he goes bye-bye.

72. Actually, I'm not trying to be positive, I'm trying to be truthful.
Edited on Tue Jan-15-08 09:04 PM by BerryBush
The whole "need of TV and radio stations and networks to serve in the public interest" was predicated on the principle that when one obtained a broadcasting license, one had purchased the right to use a band on a limited spectrum of frequencies that belonged to the people. Therefore, you had to spend at least part of your time serving the people. If the people complained about how you used (or misused) your license, you could lose it.

That's still true of local stations, but with networks it's gone the way of the dinosaur, it seems.

To add: Everyone these days can have an audience, if they want one. But they don't have a right to a large audience. These days, the right to a large audience is determined by those who attract the most attention. However they attract it. And it's determined by however those who control the gateway to the larger audiences determine they have the right to it.

83. AMEN!!!
If you look back in history, never has this country given freakin tax cuts "To Anyone" during a time of war. We were always asked to sacrifice. Yet this stupid, ass-hat pResident of OUR WHITE HOUSE wants to make these tax cuts permanent.

Damn him and all his cabal for what they have done and continue to do to this country. I so freakin hope that all our Founding Fathers are haunting this man, and continue to haunt him for the remainder of his miserable life.

:grr: :grr: :grr:
