Welcome back. I was thinking about you this afternoon.

I registered for TBA, but who knows if I'll actually wind up being able to come. I'm holding off booking my flight. Let's talk in the next few days. I'm a little concerned about logistics -- I don't travel as lightly as some (just ask DG) and usually have too much stuff with me to take the Metro to you on Sunday (how much would a cab be?) and then have to bring it all to the conference with me Wednesday to get to the airport after the conference. Let's see what we can figure out.

and, if we have to, we can pick yp at the airport and we'll drive it to the conference on the last day to make sure that you make your plane. fwiw, the Admiral always insists that I pack a lot of clothes for him. He's got to make sure he has clothes for any weather condition and his many moods. Then there are his books, his organizer, his shaving kit, his extra socks and the rest of the extras.

Just let us know. You're welcome to stay with us. And you needn't worry about small things like transportation. We have a Honda Civic hatchback but it got me, the husband, three dogs and luggage across country in one piece.

I figured you probably had a car, since you came from KC and are living in the 'burbs, but I didn't want to impose. If you can pick me up Sunday and we can drive in on Wednesday, that solves my dilemma. Guess I won't have to leave the laptop home after all!

I will let you know once I make a final, final decision, but it will probably be pretty close to the time of the conference, depending on what happens here. If mom is still here, I need to make sure my dad feels okay with me leaving for a few days. I'll tell you, I could sure use a few days away about now. The stress and emotions are killing me. I go to work, stop at mom and dad's on the way home for a few hours and get home just about in time for Keith. It makes for a long day and leaves no time for anything else. Tomorrow night I'm having dinner with Nancy and another gal who's working on the campaign -- it will be a nice break, although I'll still stop at mom and dad's for a while before that.

Hubby works in DC. He has to walk up K Street to get to work. I've only been "in the city" twice since we got here. We've spent more time in Arlington with a friend of ours than anywhere else but home.

The weather here is great. Back home they've had quite a bit of snow and several arctic blasts. Here, not so much. The dogs love it. They get longer and more walks. The small ones also like not having to take walks in snow that's taller than they are.

You got that right. The move was stressful because it happened so quickly. Then, no internet for a month! It was like hell. Just glad to be back among the sane.

It's so sad being over there. Tonight she wanted my daughter and me to go through her clothes and take what we wanted and put the rest in bags for my dad to get rid of. We did a little, but it's too weird. Most of her stuff is way too big for either of us and she has tons of hats she wore to synagogue and neither of us ever wears hats. There's so much to get rid of and she wants it done now so my dad will have less to worry about later. I put her off a little and told her I'd do it another day.

One minute she seems to know she doesn't have long, as in wanting us to take her stuff, and the next minute she's telling my dad she wants to go to Israel for Passover like they always do. He was explaining gently to her that if she's still here by then she won't be able to travel. She doesn't understand why not and says she should be better by then. It just breaks my heart -- I cried all the way home.
