First, I wake up and look out my window and see nothing but white.

Then I call my workplace's emergency hotline and hear a recorded message telling me that work will start on schedule this morning. Hmph. If I'd known it would be this bad, I'd have taken my laptop home last night. Eight to 12 inches expected. Be on the lookout for the naked guy from the radio station--this is weather he loves.

Then I turn on Morning Joe. They're playing nothing but Springsteen songs before breaks this morning--apparently in honor of us (rock and roll, get it?). (Hello, people, we love Springsteen here, but he is NOT from Cleveland!) So they show shots of my whited-out city to the tune of the flattering background music "Baby, this town rips the bones off your back, it's a death trap, it's a suicide rap, we gotta get out while we're young..."

Later, they switch tactics and go for Paul Simon--who, from what I understand, shot part of his movie One-Trick Pony here in 1980 only because he thought it was the best way to characterize the idea that his rock star character was playing an absolute hell hole town. "Kodachrooooome...gives us those nice bright colors..." What are we now, Rochester?

Anyway, I'm going to TRY to get to work. Even if only to grab my computer and go right back home.

But Mayor McCheese is here, and even Andrea Mitchell is here. Don't tell me Keith STILL gets to stay cozy at 30 Rock?

Hello, Cleveland! Let's rock and roll!

Edited to add: The next flattering piece of music was David Bowie and Queen's "Under Pressure": "...Watching some good friends screaming 'Let me out!'" Please don't tell me this isn't on purpose...
