8. The seed of the switch grass and maybe some of the plant ....

.... can be distilled into alcohol. But on a large scale it is purely theoretical right now.
Some people think that you have to put more energy in then the energy you get out.

Switchgrass has many wonderful qualities; native, perennial, deep rooted, provide
habitat for native flora & funa, fixes atmospheric CO2, acts as biofilter for environmental
contaminates, reduce erosion, flood control, and drought tolerant. And is very attractive
for landscapes and has been a solid grass for grazing too. But just saying
we can make enough alcohol from it to dramatically change the nation's energy needs
anywhere in the near future is pop science.

The concept has been around for many years but with * talking about it, he leaves
quite a few gaps in the equation. Just like his man to mars idea:
We fly to the moon build a space station there and then lunch a rocket to mars from the moon.
Even if you could do all that the problem of getting the rocket fuel to the moon to
power the spaceship to mars gets in the way. (My sis in law works for NASA .. *'s
mars mission has taken up way to much time and money from the real scientists.)

Switch grass used to be a crazy hippie idea a while back. But i really expect asshole to
follow a course of energy that puts $ in the pockets of his "people." i.e. coal, nuclear,
oil, gas, tar sands & shales, and "renewable" energies as long as it benefits his oil buddies.

I wondered why Cheney stood up and applauded when * said that BS about ending our "addiction" to foreign energy (read: oil). Then it occurred to me that Cheney's $$ is mostly domestic. Also, I think that Byrd and Rockefeller voting Yes on Alito had to do with some new scheme involving coal.
