Glad it was an easy trip. My flight yesterday was delayed. The 6:15 took off at 7:40. Not bad considering, but still a bit annoying.

74. Thanks -- I'm so glad I finally got a digital camera.
It's so much better than film -- so much more spontaneous and better pics.

It was just one yesterday, silly.

Dinner was great -- we had planned to have dinner at the hotel, but when he got there, we found out the restaurant was closed until tomorrow for dinner. Then after my cousin got there, we walked to try to find an Italian place someone in the hotel told us about, but we couldn't find it, so we came back and got his car and drove to the Five Pointes restaurant. I'm not sure exactly where it was.

I hadn't seen him in 7 years, so it was kind of weird -- he's aged a lot from 63 to 70. The weirdest thing was looking at this older man who had my uncle's smooth radio voice. It felt like he was someone else channeling him.

91. i know, it's sometimes a shock to see people after so many years.
I practically had a thrombo at my 30th high school reunion, especially since I hadn't gone to 10, 15, 25. Everyone one looked really different.
It's more shocking when it's a relative.

Thanks for walking there with me in that cold weather. The only thing you missed was that the down escalator wasn't working so I shlepped down the stairs.

I'm telling you: wear them in the bathtub and don't take them off until they're dry!

Also, the train to Newark first stopped in Secaucus. I DID stay on the train (but only because it was Sunday :))

The tour took me through the lovely Sopranos' scenery of North Jersey. Why don't they clean that up? Yuck.

Besides, I'm not really from NJ so I take no responsibility. We get a bum rap, there are so many beautiful places in NJ, but we are only known for Secaucus.

It's more central and maybe we'd get more people to show up. It's farther for the NY people, but closer for you and Rev, closer for me, and not any worse for the Texas gals, maybe even closer.

86. Even New York was too cold
No more mid-winter meet-ups, girls. Spring or fall are the best times (as long as there's no home game at the Big House). Winter is too cold and summer is too hot. April-May or September-October are the best times in either NY or Chicago (or DC).

184. is Chicago really worse than NYC in the winter?
I've never been to NY so I don't know. I lived in Chicago one winter and it didn't seem that bad for winter but I used to live in Boulder so maybe I have a skewed idea of what winter is.

:hi: to everybody. I've had massive, massive computer woes and am just now starting to rejoin the living. I'm glad the NYC contingent seems to have had such a good time -- and you got to come home with your bail money. Now there's a surprise!

I had an awful day. A co-worker and friend died yesterday, very suddenly, leaving behind three boys - two who are in high school. She was only 51. Heart attack - that COULD have been prevented. She DID go to the ER earlier in the week for a myriad of problems, but they didn't check her for that.

It was an awful day.

Our company is giving them free education for life, thank God, but, my God, how awful is it to lose your mother at 22, 18 and 16?

(I work for a computer training center: the boys can get actual marketable skills there. My GM/Owner is a jewel, even asking me, ever-so-gently, if I would help him with the accounting for a bit, since I do the major accounts, anyway).

She thought it was her hiatal hernia acting up and
they treated her only for that - even knowing she was a bit overweight and smoked and was a single mother (stress).

My MOM is only 56. I cannot believe someone I know - who was a friend, not just a co-worker - is gone at 51. FUCK!!!!

Sorry - a bit raw over here.

Thanks for listening, all.

What a horrible story.

We did have fun. You'll come next time when there's no honeymoon in the way.

Yes, it's a problem no matter who they "outsource" it to. Let's give the keys to the front door to a stranger. We'll just trust that they won't hurt us or take anything while we're busy over here.

140. No - just the hiatal hernia, which I also have (my heart skips
beats when it acts up, too).

This is what pisses me off - they didn't check. They didn't. I'm sure her heart would have shown as struggling, but they didn't check.

She was a hard-working, single Mom, like I was for the past four years. Doing the best she could for her boys and was a sweet person, all around.

We do shifts for lunch to relieve Gail at the front desk - I did Lisa's for the past few days because I wanted her to take her lunch to nap (she'd nap in our employee lounge). My last great gift was to let the woman sleep. I wish I could have done more.

I'm pitiful raining on your parades. I'm so sorry. You guys had so much fun and I want to read about it - I do. And I will - when I feel like a laugh.

Now it's scrimshaw, before it was even smaller repetitive lines with a .000 Rapidograph.

She's great. I love art where the person uses a method or material that is intended as craft and makes fine art out of it. I am going to learn pyrography for just such a purpose. I don't know if you saw it but MOMA had a Kara Walker picture up in Contemporary art section. She cuts images out of black paper and puts them on white backgrounds, just like those old silhouette portraits of profiles, only Kara's pieces are all about race relations and the history of racism in America. She has done some really powerful pieces since Katrina too, but the simplicity of the medium, and its original banal, innocent, craftlike purpose only gives the seriousness of her subject matter that much more power. I love your friend's work. I'll have to look at it more closely later.

Maybe I'll see you in April -- I'll have to see how my finances are closer to the time of the protest.

185. f-ed up computer. and for today's
 Houston story: instead of giving your kid lunch money, HISD has a new program where you give the kid a plastic charge card. You can put restrictions on it to make sure Johnny's eating real food instead of soft drinks and potato chips for lunch. (Unauthorized items will be "rejected" by the scanner at the register.) But if Johnny's a good boy, you can also program in the occasional treat pellet, um, piece of dessert, if you so desire, as a reward. That was a story on the local NPR affiliate this morning while I was getting dressed. I went into the bathroom to ask my husband, who was brushing his teeth, "Did you hear that?" and he said, "Yes. Big Mother is watching you."

And Amy starts kindergarten in the fall...

everything else relates to cher! ;)

no, the boiler-plate language refers to the request for spousal support & the confirmation of separate property (at least in community property states).
