I hate hate hate hate this mid-life middle of mine.
I look at some women who are middle-aged and trim and hope they know how damned lucky they are. Of course, I do realize if I put the junk food down - got out of this damned chair and off the GD computer and go out to exercise - things would be different (maybe).

I don't know what it's going to take for me to get out of my sloth-period.

Can anyone knock some sense into my head and somehow motivate me to get it into gear?

1. Just start walking
start out slow...10 minutes or so. Then keep doing it everyday, if possible.

2. Sucks doesn't it?
Man, it has been almost intolerable at times. I think (I hope I hope I hope) that I am rounding the bend and getting ready to head down the other side of this thing. It can not happen too soon. I have to get this weight off and I am sick of crying over every single thing I hear and read that is nice. I feel like the worlds biggest, reddest (hot flashes) sap.

I wish there was someone left in my family that could tell me the ages women in this family get over this thing. Damn, I am too old for this.

4. Hot Flashes
Your hormones are reacting causing the flashes. That is great! My fear post, post menopause.

3. Putting Down the Junk Food Is a Good First Step
Forget about being trim.

Think about being fit. If you live near a zoo or any kind of pleasant walking space, put the sneakers on and go for it.

Work up to walking a mile two-three days per week.

Call your friends and invite one or more to go with you.

Call your friends and see who wants to go bowling.

I hate excercise with a passion. The key is making it fun.

5. cut sugar out of your diet.
you'd be surprised how much weight you will lose by doing that and eliminating processed foods. Eat more raw foods.
