Two questions about female friendship
1. Do you hold your girlfriends to the same standards that you hold your boyfriends? For example, do you get extremely mad (not just annoyed) if they forget to call you? Do you insist that you absolutely take turns calling each other? For example, if you called her last week, you would never dream of calling her this week because it's her turn.

2. Did you have sisters?

I've found that my relationships with my women friends are much more laid back than my romantic relationships. There is a lack of insecurity there. I don't assume my girlfriend doesn't like me if she forgets to call me or is busily involved with other things in her life. (At least to a point. Blatant disregard is another thing.) I call my girlfriends anytime I'm thinking of them. I don't stop to calculate who called who the last time. I might call her seven times in a row and she might do the same. I have a handful of really good female friends and our relationships usually fall easily into this pattern. However, two times in my life I've had female friends that treat me more like a boyfriend. They get weirdly mad if I forget to call them. They are furious if I forget an anniversary or birthday. They accused me of not caring enough about them, etc. etc. My other girlfriends agree that the behavior is kind of weird and that they've had friends like that at some point, too. The last time we talked about this, we all realized that these friends were only children, or at least had no sisters. We are wondering if our relationships with our sisters made us more comfortable in our relationships with other women. There is a lack of insecurity that might show up in our romantic relationships. We give each other a break way more than we would give to a man who was "courting" us. Is it like this with you? Or are me and the bulk of my female friends just lazy and disrespectful to each other? I'm curious to hear from other women about this.
