Rush Limbaugh makes deal with in 'doctor shopping' probe
RAW STORY
Published: Friday April 28, 2006

Rush Limbaugh has committed to a settlement agreement with the Palm Beach County State Attorney's Office in their probe of allegations that the conservative talk show host went doctor shopping, according to a press release issued by Limbaugh's attorney, RAW STORY has found.

The Palm Beach Post reported that Limbaugh turned himself in to Florida authorities on Friday after a warrant was issued.

"The conservative radio commentator came into the jail at about 4 p.m. with his attorney Roy Black and bonded out an hour later on a $3,000 bail," said a spokesman for the State Attorney's office, according to the Palm Beach Post.

According to attorney Roy Black, a single charge of doctor shopping will be filed in court by the state attorney, and as long as Limbaugh "completes an additional 18 months of treatment" by his physician, and pays $30,000 "to the State of Florida to defray the public cost of the investigation," the charge will then be dropped.

Press release issued by Limbaugh's attorney:

3. And immediately released with a sweetheart deal
and looking at his record being sealed and expunged in 18 months at which time he'll have his sheeple convinced it never actually happened.

This isn't the exciting news people think it is from the headlines.

4. Thanks for the update, kpete. Appreciate your on-the-ball posts.
Almost as a separate consideration, I want Limbaugh humbled for his long-standing bigotry and hard-ass attitude to the poor and disenfranchised. Drug addiction is a health problem, not a moral issue, in my opinion, and that's why Limbaugh needs to be humbled.

I don't want him criticized for HIS addiction if as a condition of his sentence he could be made to offer an apology to others for their addiction.

If his attitude remains as bigoted and hard-assed as ever, I think punitive action is a more appealing option.

He owes many anonymous people an apology.

8. Rush Limbaugh arrested on prescription drug charges
Rush Limbaugh was arrested Friday on prescription drug charges, law enforcement officials said. Limbaugh turned himself in to authorities on a warrant issued by the State Attorney's Office, said Teri Barbera, a spokeswoman for the State Attorney's Office.

The conservative radio commentator came into the jail at about 4 p.m. with his attorney Roy Black and bonded out an hour later on a $3,000 bail, Barbera said. The warrant was for fraud to conceal information to obtain prescription, Barbera said.

Black said his client and authorities reached a settlement on a single count charge of doctor shopping filed Friday by the State Attorney will be dismissed in 18 months. Prosecutors seized Limbaugh's records after learning that he received about 2,000 painkillers, prescribed by four doctors in six months, at a pharmacy near his Palm Beach mansion. They contend that Limbaugh engaged in "doctor shopping," or illegally deceived multiple doctors to receive overlapping prescriptions.

Limbaugh has not been charged and maintains he's innocent. He has acknowledged he became addicted to pain medication, blaming it on severe back pain, and took a five-week leave from his radio show to enter a rehabilitation program in 2003.

I am SO sick of the double standard in this country. You watch, oxyRU$Hitler will get a slap on the wrist. Just by having Roy Black as his lawyer says one word: GUILTY!

The man (and I use that term loosely) is as fraudulent as the politics that he preaches.

26. Rush Limbaugh drug-war quotes. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
http://sf.indymedia.org/news/2003/10/1652834_comment.php

"Drug use, some might say, is destroying this country. And we have laws against selling drugs, pushing drugs, using drugs, importing drugs. And the laws are good because we know what happens to people in societies and neighborhoods which become consumed by them. And so if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be
convicted and they ought to be sent up."
-- Rush Limbaugh. October 5, 1995 show transcript.
http://www.takebackthemedia.com/gophotwrush.html

"What this says to me is that too many whites are getting away with drug use, too many whites are getting away with drug sales, too many whites are getting away with trafficking in this stuff. The answer to this disparity is not to start letting people out of jail because we're not putting others in jail who are breaking the law. The answer is to go out and find the ones who are getting away with it, convict them and send them up the river, too."
-- Rush Limbaugh. October 5, 1995 show transcript.
http://www.takebackthemedia.com/gophotwrush.html

"It's kind of like sentencing. A lot of people say that we have a heavy sentence for this crime and a light sentence for another crime, and what we ought to do is reduce the heavy sentence so it's more in line with the other. Wrong. In most cases we ought to increase the light sentence and make it compatible with the heavy sentence, and be serious about punishment because we are becoming too tolerant as a society, folks, especially of crime, in too many parts of the country."
-- Rush Limbaugh. October 5, 1995 show transcript.

27. So he's not guilty of anything and he spent 60 minutes in jail?
If I read this right the state of Florida, after spending $30.000 is saying he is not guilty of illegal drug use? That his crime was doctor shopping? (I didn't know that was a crime). And after a year and a half, his slate will be completely clean?

They clearly weren't looking very hard.
