I suggest everyone here in GD take a mental health day...
Thus far, I've stayed away from the Leopold/Will Pitt threads. I've also stayed clear of the Chavez is Satan incarnate discussions. I love DU. I can't think of any other place where we can cry and kvetch, piss and moan and sometimes support each other. Before the bloodletting that is the Democratic primaries, I suggest every one here stop. Chill and prepare your favorite beverage, go outside, set up your favorite music, burn your favorite incense, sit with the ones you love and just fucking chill out for an evening. No AAR, no DU, no MSM news or NPR or other crap.

Just the crickets, the cold beer and your loved ones. This summer lets all take a "chill pledge". I did this evening, just me, my Lotus incense, my radio tuned to Van Halen and old Neil Young, ice cold Shiner Hefeweizen and my cat on the back deck. It was heaven.

Take a break from DU if just for an evening. The primaries are going to be hell enough. We need to bone up on our "me" time now. I love DU and most everyone here. Lets try not to tear each other apart until later on okay? My command is to chill out as often as possible. Let's not sweat the small stuff. That's what will fucking kill you in the long run.

1. My new accidental habit is to have our classical radio station
as part of my car radio pre-sets, and when there's an AAR commercial, I flip over.

My forehead relaxes, my breath comes in more deeply and naturally, and I look around and notice the scenery.

Great post. We need to be healthy in body and spirit to do our best work.

23. I too have been listening to more classical, but...
There is a need to listen to that new Dixie Chick CD. Remeber a positive thought-several times a day. A great way to change the station in your mind.

2. I agree....listening to the Dixie Chicks CD and drinking a brew...
and chillen....my spouse is out of town...the dogs are hanging out at their doggie friends place....chillen....

You are right....we have to stop fighting with each other...we have the biggest fight of our lives and of this country coming up and we need to be focused and rested for that....remember that's the Rovian tactic throw so many diversions out there to get us riled up at each other...

That song Lullaby was on "Medium" last night. I caught the tail end before the news. I thought it was great and went out and bought it today!

7. true dat
spending the day tomorrow at a water-park with my husband and 5-year-old. The little one doesn't know it yet; we're going to tell her first thing in the morning that she's skipping pre-K to take a family field trip. Otherwise, I guarantee she'd be up and ready to go 5 hours before the place opens. ;-)

12. I made a suggestion last week in the Florida Forum.
I'll post it in GD tomorrow.

July 1st, a Sat. is the next scheduled launch for the space shuttle. A whole bunch of us should get together in Cape Canaveral starting on Friday, drink large quantities of alcohol (And make motel reservations), and watch the worlds largest bottle rocket take off!

14. oooh yeah, baby!!
I've never seen a shuttle launch. My partner grew up not far from Canaveral in the early '60s. She can remember waking up at dawn to the ground shaking and to "...what I thought was the sun taking off..."

She witnessed the Gemini launches and never realized it.

18. I had to recommend this...but DAMN
last week would have been SO much better for it. I wasn't here for the Presidential primaries, I heard it was bad then, but I can't imagine it ever being worse than the last couple of weeks, and I don't get upset easily.

While waiting for the storm to pass, I spend time with my six 6 week old puppies - (I don't mind them tearing me apart), and then I pick up a book and have some quiet time. Your advice is excellent!

21. yeah, I can't believe the level of insanity around here either

The sad part is, it's all about nothing. Or, rather, it's about one big -and hopefully last- full blown indulgence in all the stupid crap that people in a longterm minority Party say and believe and do. Letting the Inner Conservative Child run loose.

25. Great suggestion!
It's time to take the wife and girls on another river canoe trip. The last time we went down the river I have in mind, a beaver swam under the boat, we watched minks play along the bank, and saw lots of wildlife in general.

No politics this weekend..... :patriot: Scout's Honor!
