Great Ken Lay quote, submitted for your approval.
“Our performance has never been stronger; our business model has never been more robust; our growth has never been more certain.”

-----Email from Ken Lay to all Enron employees, August 14, 2001.

(Quoted in Brian Cruver’s ANATOMY OF GREED.
Less than 4 months later, on December 2, 2001, Enron filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy.
At the time of the email, Lay was President, CEO, and Chairman of Board of Directors for Enron.)

I just HAD to share this with you guys!

They probably shared the same speechwriter...

"Our country has never been stronger; our economy has never been more robust; our freedom has never been more certain."

4. It was about that same time
It was about that time that Lay was telling all the employees to invest as heavily as they could in Enron stock. Fortunately, there was a lot of Enron stock to be bought -- Lay and the other folks in the know were quietly dumping their stock, because they knew the million pound shithammer was coming down.

5. He was so busy turning corners and hitting major turning points, like Bush
his good buddy who seized the White House and then Iraq, that he forgot he was going out of business. I guess success went to both of their heads.
