1. With the Same Results..
Then
Bush: We are liberating Iraq
Iraq: You are slaughtering/torturing our innocent civilians (abu gharaib, Haditha, Guantanamo bay)

Now
Bush: We cannot take the nuclear option off the table
Iran: We want to talk diplomacy with the US

now don't get me wrong... Iran has been preparing for a US invasion and by all accounts that war has already started.

But it will be interesting how Bush spins it.

I'm going to wager the spin is "Save Israel" as US prompts Iran to strike Israel first, and paint Iran as wanting to take over Middle East (news for ya bushie, our little invasion in Iraq, gave the radical Muslims in Iran, deeper and wider control of Iraq), so we've already given Iran a huge gift by invading Iraq... bad as Saddam was, he was better than the radical war mongering Mullah's that are now in control of Iran & now Iraq..

if you want a real history lesson, look at Afghanistan.. by far an example that forcing democracy in a place of historic thuggery only slowly leads back to historic thuggery...

my question is, why should I give my medicare and social security money for these thugs all across the world?

2. it is on their agenda
first Iraq, now Iran. You keep seeing more and more of the Iranian leader on TV.

Michael Ledeen - National Review - Jan 2006
In short, both demography and geopolitics make this an age of revolution, as President Bush seems to have understood. Rarely have there been so many opportunities for the advance of freedom, and rarely have the hard facts of life and death been so favorable to the spread of democratic revolution.
