Classic Fox News a few minutes ago...
Edited on Thu Jun-01-06 11:07 AM by Got WMD
Anchor Greg Jarrett cut into a report by their Pentagon reporter on Haditha (just at the time the Pentagon guy was talking about the prelim investigation that contradicts the initial reports... great timing!!!) w/ BREAKING NEWS!!!! Fox then went live to a picture of the chapel where funeral services were being held for the pretty blond Clemson student, who was strangled with her bikini top. There wasn't a press conference, or anything going on in the camera shot for that matter, but Fox felt the need to cut in with BREAKING NEWS and show us the empty steps of a church. Amazing!!!!

Fox really hit the trifecta with this one...

1. Pretty young girl from the south
2. Blond
3. Bikini top

I don't mean to make light of this poor woman's death, but I just can't stand the way these a-holes operate.

18. STOP BLAMING THE GIRLS!
They and their families have experienced a tragedy. It's not their fault that the media has chosen to exploit it.

21. Me too
But I'm more sick of the crimes against women that occur every single day - publicized and not - than of the media reporting of it. Hmmm... maybe if people (men) weren't going around murdering and/or kidnapping women/girls/boys there wouldn't be so much of it on the TV.

Just a different perspective.

I've stopped watching all TV court/crime/mystery programs and stick to animal planet because all we see are crimes against women. Once in awhile we'll get some variety, but if you take a look at last season's episodes of all the CSI's, all the L+O's, and every other crime program on tv (and there are many,) it's kind of hard to miss the overwhelimg theme.

Give the consumer what they want is the name of their game, and the ratings seem to suggest what the consumer wants is coverage/dramatization of brutal/heinus crimes. If ratings is where it's at, then *someone* likes this drivel. Right?

2. DO you think FUX could be behind the disappearance of
upper-class honeymooners and white women? Do you think FUX has a squad of assasins to dispatch young white women?

Just asking...

I'm not joking... Those clowns would shoot their parents for additional ratings points.

4. A few months ago I saw Faux cut to in-studio hula dancing..
during an important story re: BushCo scandals. Sorry I can't remember the exact scandal breaking that day, but it could have been any one of hundreds. The point is, the news was breaking hard and they thought giving their anchors hula lessons was more important.

Faux Newz: Wholly without merit.

6. Meanwhile
Every night on the local news here in St. Louis there seems to be a story about the tragic death of some 7 or so year old, black, inner-city kid from gang violence or a shooting...So sad. Does that ever make Faux news?...Maybe if it did it people would open their eyes to the REAL plight in this country.

This is not meant to demean this poor girl's death by any means. I feel for her family.

7. Hypocrites.
How many men, women and children went missing during the Katrina disaster? How much air time has Fox been devoting to their rescue/recovery efforts?

I'm so pissed that news organizations only find the deaths of pretty white blond girls newsworthy.

12. Serial killings and kidnappings make better ratings
Edited on Thu Jun-01-06 11:08 AM by jerry611
Truth is, many people do not like politics. And if the news networks were to report on Bush scandals 24/7... people would get bored and turn off the TV. Which isn't good because ratings drop and sponsors pull their ads.

Mysteries on the other hand make better ratings. Most people also think kidnappings and serial killings have a better chance of effecting their own personal lives than whether an FBI raid on a congressional office was constitutional.
Look at book sales and movie sales...what kind of books or movies sell the most? Mysteries sell the most.

The sad truth is that the American people, from the far right to the far left and everyone in between, has accepted the one truth about government. Everyone lies. It's all one huge conspiracy against the people. So with the standard being that low...no one gives a damn about a politician that violates the law.

13. Faux Knows The Audience...They Created Them
As Jon Stewart says...it's Fox, not facts. Now would you like to watch your favorite channel and get downed out news 24/7? Faux sure doesn't...and panders to their coven with all sorts of manipulated and manufactured "news". So what else is new? Surely Roger Ailes knows there's troubles with his core audience...split on almost every issue these days and is avoiding all sides with a non-story that will distract away while other REAL news develops.

They can't really do the immigration story...Ailes is a boooosh-licker and any stories about Guest Workers (translation: slave labor for large corporations that pay Faux's bills) won't go well with your average racist Faux viewer. They can't really do Iraq either as any "positive" developments are refuted daily by what's happening on the ground there...and they're not going to send their own reporters out of the Green Zone to find that "good news". Looks like the Pentagon is in damage control mode 24/7 and having troubles even keeping Faux on the same page. So let's find something else...oh, good...we found a dead white christian blonde. Now THAT's news.

If this is what they're pushing as "news", I'm happy...it means they're sticking their fat heads in the sand and aren't able to carry this regime's water with any "credibility" anymore. I haven't seen their ratings for a bit...Mediabistro has them...but from the last time I looked, they've seen a drain on their audience...specifically the "money demo" (25-49) and the way they think it pays to stop that bleeding is to find the tabloid stories...rather than trying to astroturf Rovian talking points 24/7.
