Missed Al on "This Week" - please fill me in!
I have a nasty hangover and COULD not drag myself out of bed in time.

Who watched? What happened? Must've been pretty boring, as I see no recent threads about it.

11. Thank you for the link!
It was an excellent, excellent interview. Gore would be the most perfect person to run for President because he doesn't want it. He is not seeking power. Therefore, he would be very unlikely to abuse this office.

I sure hope he runs.

7. K & R
Thanks Al Gore.

I've read that not only would parts of N.Y. be under 20 ft. of water but, there are other large cities which are currently built at sea level like D. C., Boston, Parts of Florida, San Francisco is right on the bay. It would cause major problems for these cities to be under 20 ft. of sea water.

8. He put a smile on my face. A breath of honesty is as refreshing
as a breath of fresh air. He really was relaxed, comfortable and WOW, he was able to converse in real sentences, too!

He's the kind of guy, that I 'd like to have a beer with! And, hell, I'd treat him to a couple more, just for the good conversation.

Ok. please explain the Sherman statement, anyone?

12. "If nominated I will not run; if elected I will not serve."
Such a categorical rejection of a candidacy is now referred to as a "Sherman Statement."

13. From Wikipedia:
Sherman was proposed as a Republican candidate for the presidential election of 1884, but declined as emphatically as possible, saying, "If nominated I will not run; if elected I will not serve." Such a categorical rejection of a candidacy is now referred to as a "Sherman Statement."

(about 2/3 of the way down the page, just above"death and posterity"

there is also an entry under "Shermanesque statement":

9. Now that is an understatement
It would cause major problems for these cities to be under 20 ft. of sea water.

I am so glad Gore is promoting this film and raising the level of discussion on global warming. But I am also pissed that the media keeps pushing talk of a potential presidential race and sidestepping all talk about the environmental issues.

He said at least twice "I have not issued a Sherman statement!". That was why I wondered!

I guess it is tantamount to "Never say never!".

15. to be under that much water, yes -- unless you're a gondolier!
I like how he's customizing his interviews with different pics, depending on which area he's visiting.
