Let's see ... the pro-illegal immigration, open borders, amnesty folks are on the same side as Bush and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Does that make them all moronic corporatists?

The point is that we can sling labels around all over the place to cast aspersions on other folks for their stand on the immigration issue.

It is hard to get more progressive than me ... but I believe in stopping illegal immigration, closing the border to those atttempting to cross illegally, putting employers and exploiters of illegals in jail (not just 'fines'), and advocating for a Hugo Chavez-type government in Mexico.

Why?

Because global warming is a fact; because we have reached Peak Oil; because the planet cannot sustain 7 billion people now and the U.S. cannot sustain 400 million people in 2030.

Because I want national health insurance; because I want a growing middle class; because I want to see labor valued and union organization expand.

A growing immigrant population works against all those things I have just listed.

speak out against this stuff. They actually have a unit specifically to prevent exploitation of migrant workers.
