Gallup: Bush approval rating up for second time! all the way to 36%

It is a modest rise but it indicates that Bush is making improvements among his base. His approval rating rose ten-points among Republicans with 78% now approving of their president. Independents showed a 3-point improvement for Bush now a whole 28% approve. Democrats still show only 8% approval.

Gallup says the improvement may be due to:
1) stabilized gas prices!
2) The wide spread approval of the Paulson nomination for Treasury Secretary!
3) Bush's Immigration speech!

This poll was taken prior to yesterday's pandering to the religious right.

Now 57% disapprove of Bush down from 65% early last month.

gas has stabilized at $3.29/gallon in seattle for a month now. i said when the squealing from the consumer got loud & the issue got in the press, it would stabilize. that's exactly what's happened. everyone has forgotten or just sucked it up - plenty of motor homes, jet skis, powerboats, & horse trailers on the road last weekend. i passed them in my sedan, the SUV left at home.
