Hey Du'ers, great news!
Edited on Fri Jun-09-06 10:22 PM by jaredh
My little town here in Southwest New Mexico just passed a resolution supporting the creation of a Department of Peace in

Washington! I'm excited because, although this town went for Kerry, we tend to be a fairly conservative ranching mining

community with many families having relatives in the military. Only 1 out of 7 town councilors voted against it and

he was too afraid to state his reason.

The tide is turning folks, I can feel it!

15. Lordsburg was more boring than Deming
But not by much. I was a reporter for the Las Cruces Sun-News covering Deming and Columbus, so from a news standpoint, it wasn't so bad because there were plenty of stories because of the border.

But if I wanted to have fun, I would have to drive to Las Cruces or El Paso.

7. Silver's a nice town.
I love that wine bar that serves Cheetoes.

And the bookstore.

And the Tour of the Gila is fun.

10. Holy shit! In RANCH COUNTRY?
We up in the northern part of the state tend to think the southern part is divided between conservative Texan ranchers and conservative Texan retirees. That a town in that part of the state has done something downright progressive is welcome news, indeed.

Now if you guys can only manage to get rid of those two wastes of protoplasm and horrible embarrassments to all New Mexicans, Pearce and Domenici, maybe the overall perception will finally change.

Yeah, I know about Heartless Heather Wilson. We're working on it, and without those ES&S machines, my guess is that she's already interviewing at K Street lobbying firms.

12. Well, we're not as bad as some areas of Eastern NM
Edited on Fri Jun-09-06 10:42 PM by jaredh
but we do have a fairly large amount of conservatives. What makes Silver more liberal is the very active art community and the Hispanic population.

We do need to get rid of Pearce and Dominici, that's for sure.
