Edited on Tue Jun-13-06 06:47 AM by KoKo01
how many others? We all know Bullies like Rove...they always rat out their accomplises to save their own skin. Rove was too important to the Bush machine to go down...but I'm sure Fitz didn't let him off unless he got enough info that would lead to the real leaker or in fact "conspiracy" of leakers.

It's possible that Leopold was even used in some way to pressure Rove with judicious leaks in the right places....or maybe Rove knew he'd given enough to Fitz that the road would lead away from him and Leopold was used as a cruel joke on us here out in the internets.

Whatever...it doesn't help for us to spend time on this. There's alot more that Rove can be held accountable for that will come out, eventually. He escaped this one...but he's got too long a history of dirty tricks for there not to be much more waiting to ensnare him.

2. Gonzo put the squeeze on Fitz, I'm betting.
The White House has probably had Fitz and his crew bugged to the max all along and just sitting back and laughing about ALL of this. Even Libby thinks it's all fun and games.

7. Frankly it is always good for the country when the right hand man
of a President does not get in real trouble. I may not be sure he did not do anything with his history but so many crooks are around this President that it really makes our country look bad. Of course I guess we are still in the hole and still digging.

9. Rove didn't need to rat out anyone.
He just covered his ass and made sure that there was no possiblity of him getting in any kind of trouble. Bush would have pardoned him anyway.

10. firedoglake worth reading
Why won't fitz office comment?

Read this firedoglake entry:

http://www.firedoglake.com/2006/06/13/dodging-cipa-graymail-bulletsand-other-legal-notes/

<snip>

First, the NYTimes article from David Johnston this morning. (And a hat tip to Holden for the heads up on the article.) If Luskin is coming out and saying publicly that they got a letter from Pat Fitzgerald which says that Rove will not be charged, there are two things that I want to see and know: (1) what does the letter actually say, word for word; and (2) does it say something along the lines of "Please thank Karl for his cooperation in this matter."

<snip>

Here’s what the {NYT} article does say:

In a statement, Mr. Luskin said, "On June 12, 2006, Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald formally advised us that he does not anticipate seeking charges against Karl Rove."

Well, that’s a bit of overhype, frankly. Rove was not the only person that Fitzgerald was looking at in the grand scheme of this investigation. And to spin this as the case being over is laziness on the part of David Johnston — and the media writ large, frankly — who have never dug into this case to realize that the players were larger than the Libby and Rove narrative frame that the corporate media types have conveniently used throughout the investigation. And that the be all and end all of the case was not the ultimate criminal charges, but the exposure of the smarmy underbelly of the Bush Administration and their standard MO of attacking, with a vengeance, anyone who dares to question them — even when those questions are not only appropriate but also expose them in a lie.

<snip>

11. Thanks....the Firedoglake piece gives some more perspective on
this. Read everything with caution..as Christy suggests in the piece.

I've wondered why Fitz picked Monday to announce to Rove's lawyer, though.

Doesn't the Grand Jury meet on only Wednesday's and Friday's? No one has focused on the timing...but then the news just broke so maybe someone will speculate on that later.
