Sit yourself down in LBN or Editorials and stay away from discussion forums. The hide thread is a great feature, but on days such as today almost every thread would need to be clicked hide thread.

I've been getting pretty frustrated--too many threads. It does not lead to the best discourse, IMHO.

12. Good idea for a thread

Another tip is to pick your threads, it's easy to get into fights sometimes even when we know each other and easier still to assume worse of people we don't know. If a thread is especially controversial and fast moving it's often a better idea to just sit on the sidelines and watch the show, or ignore it as mentioned above. You can avoid a lot of problems by simply picking your threads and skipping ones that look heated.

14. good advice - skip the ones that are flaming away

with a lot of subthreads on days like this.

lot of people into settling old scores or something,
gets tedious.

I remember when I was a newbie I jumped into a flamewar
and offered my .05 cents ( I didn't really understand
the background) - should have stayed out of that one.

I love this site. People care and we're all frustrated
but in the end we are going to see this country
through to a better day when the war criminals are
marched off to the Hague!
