Unfortunately, the answer is yes. Some of the people in this country are that stupid.

You can identify them easily. They are Republicans. They believe what they are told, as long as it comes from a respected source. Respected sources include their Republican Senators and Representatives, their Republican President, Fox News, their pastor, etc.

They do not bother to verify the facts, even if they don't really make sense, or if the stories they get from multiple respected sources don't match.

The Democrats are all bad. Being a liberal is bad. Being a conservative is good, even if what you do isn't conservative. Destroying the financial security of the country is OK, if it's all in the name of peace. War is OK, too, if it's all in the name of peace. The fact that thousands of our military are dying in the name of peace seems to escape them. The fact that all of the people sending our troops into harms way have evaded serving their country also is ignored.

These same people likely drive around with their seat belts and/or coats hanging out of their car doors. They are as nice as they can be to your face, but will cut you off in traffic without a thought. They go to church on Sundays, and spend the rest of the week hating gay people. They complain about the high cost of gas, yet continue to support an administration that allowed the oil company CEOs to write our Energy Policy behind closed doors.

So the answer to your question is yes, Virginia, the country IS that stupid. And those of us who know better pay the price for those who are too stupid to think for themselves.
