Malloy blog: Maria Cantwell's challenger, plus FEMA scams
Washington State candidate for the Senate Mark Wilson joins us tonight!

Can it get any worse? (How often are we asking that question lately?) Where it concerns FEMA and Hurricane Katrina the question keeps popping up, again and again and again. The latest? The GAO has discovered that FEMA’s incompetency was monumental; beyond belief; astronomical. (“You’re doin’ a great job, Brownie!”) Apparently, as much as one point two billion dollars was sucked into scams and frauds that could have been detected by an alert 10-year-old, scams that blew right by the Bush Crime Family freaks who corrupted FEMA the same way nearly every government agency, cabinet post and federal institution has been corrupted since Bush was appointed president. Money for porn, gambling trips, shopping sprees, vacations, diamond jewelry, and that’s just what was scammed by people in prison! We’ll talk about it tonight. Join the discussion. First, take your nausea pills.

1. So?
I will have to educate myself on this Wilson guy's platform (I honestly know NOTHING about the guy). Can't see it likely convincing me to abandon Cantwell. Yeah, she's acquiesced with the war. But she's completely on-target on such an array of other issues: deficit spending, defending the Constitution against the Bush despotism, net neutrality, education, gay rights, environment, health care. I know a lot of folks here think a candidate's position on the war is the absolute litmus test; I am not one of those. I certainly wish Maria would evolve on the issue, but I'm willing to forgive her. The alternative (which Wilson is not) is having Mike "Ken Lay Jr" McGavick as my senator, which I will not sit still for. Wilson has zero traction, as far as I can see.
