Sen. Roberts: "if you set a timetable...our resolve is very shaky"

http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0606/18/le.01.html

<snip>

ROBERTS: Well, the whole point is, he said that. And he expressed hope that that would take place. And we hope that that is correct. I don't know anybody in the Congress or for that matter anybody in America who doesn't want our troops home as fast as they can.

But if you set a timetable, it signals to people that our resolve is very shaky, that the battle of wills is also shaky. What does that say to Mr. Putin in terms of what happens with the Ukraine? What does that say to Hugo Chavez and what he's up to? What does it say to Kim Jong Il and also North Korea? What does it say to the 31 different collaborating terrorist organizations who are planning attacks even as we speak? What does it say to the people in the sleeper cells in the United States?

I think that message would be very difficult, and I think it would just prove more problems down the road when people would really question our resolve. I hope with the progress that we're making that we can accomplish what the defense minister indicated. If we can't, obviously we have new challenges.

1. Senator roberts, you are wrong
He says he doesn't know anybody in America who doesn't want our troops to come home as fast as they can. There are millions of flag waving chickenhawk "conservatives" in America who don't want our kids to come home and don't care if they die violent deaths in the desert thousands of miles from home because of a liar. They don't want them to because bush's war is a "christian" exercise and its right and its just in the minds of the insane.

Kansas please be very ashamed. I'm from Mississippi I am ashamed as well.

6. We are, believe me.

This partisan sack of shit was in the Sunday Wichita paper yesterday blaming his committee's inability to come up with Part 2 of the Iraq Prewar Intelligence Investigation on Democrats "moving the goalposts". :wow:

And the people from this state elect these shitheads over and over and over again. :banghead:

I hate to be bitter, but I hope every one of them ends up unemployed, bankrupt, stripped of their health insurance and has their kids drafted and sent to the Middle East. :grr:

(Edit:spelling)

2. Timetable WITH benchmarks &contingencies
Why are these people incapable of grasping anything of any compexity at all? Not that the concept is really all THAT complex. Surely they can't be as stupid and boneheaded as they sound

What does it say to all those nasty people? It says we are redeploying to address the REAL threats.

3. What does it signal to say we're going to be there PERMANENTLY?
Edited on Mon Jun-19-06 09:31 AM by JHB
What Sen. Roberts has forgotten (or is ignoring) is the belief that we have no intention of leaving Iraq, that we're looking to establish large permanent bases there, no matter what the Iraqis want.

Under such circumstances, NOT setting and sticking to a deadline is more likely to fuel that belief.

The question isn't our resolve, it's our (or rather, * and the PNAC Gallery's) intent.

4. Pat, will you and the Republicans accept responsibility for the failure
later? Because it will never be a better time than starting the withdrawal today. As the Chief Republican Rubberstamper, you know the decision to remain is purely political. It is all about putting Party before Country. We knew this would happen.

BTW Pat, how's that investigation into bogus intelligence coming along?

Jackson's "The Lottery."

Perhaps as Old Man Warner.

I wish for blue Kansans a Senator worthy of their votes.

8. My resolve on occupying Iraq has been shaky since before the war.
But I wouldn't say I'm any less resolved than the weaklings in favor of prosecuting the war. What is their resolve based on? How the "enemy" views "us."

9. I wish Roberts would go out and play "chicken" with some other neocon.
Bloviating bastard! It's easy for that fucker to watch other people die for his sins. The perversion is sickening.

10. What does it say to Hugo Chavez?
Are we contemplating going to war against Venezuela? That whole coup thing back in 2002 didn't work out so well. Damn mercenary force, can't trust 'em to go the whole way when the going gets tough. They always want to negotiate a higher price whenever they fuck up and something goes wrong. And have you ever tried to wire money to a foreign country when you're staging a violent insurrection? Nothing works, dammit!

Life is hard for imperialists, Sen. Roberts. It's hard, hard work. You bloodthirsty asshole.
