Who are the real "traitors"?
I realize that is a very strong word to call anyone? However, how far removed is it to say someone wants to "cut and run"? Aren't they really saying you are a coward and would desert rather than fight for your country. Aren't they really suggesting you are a "traitor"?

Which brings up the question: Who are the real traitors? For me, the real "traitors" are those that would surrender our hard-fought freedoms, since the Revolution, to a would-be dictator that has an "R" behind his name. Those that would still believe this flim-flam artist, after so many lies? Those that would attack anyone who would dare speak a disapproving word about their Leader? Those that would sacrifice the poorest in our nation so a few people at the top can have even more? Those that refuse, vehemently and violently, to paying any taxes to make our nation better, for our people or for our infrastructure? Those that watch 2500 American troops and untold tens of thousands of Iraqis die in an unnecessary invasion, based upon lies, which they still continue to deny for fear their Leader, and they by extension, would be held accountable for their crimes? Who are the real traitors here? We should ask, even though it is a very, very strong word.

1. The traitors are those who refuse to uphold their oaths of office and
protect our Constitution. I heard a talking head yesterday say that they would rather give up some civil liberties than risk losing the war in Iraq. That's a traitor.

The framing needs to be that these kinds of actions dishonor our fallen troops...those who truly believe they are fighting for this country. Because what is this country but the ideals expressed in our Constitution. And this government is now actively working, quite openly and vociferously, to destroy what makes this country so unique.

3. The concept of treason is outmoded.
Treason was established to persecute those groups who did not swear fealty to the Ruling Regime. The current government of the US routinely gets away with criminal acts, lines their pockets by using their office to push certain legislation or aid businesses that pay them off, and has made a mockery of the Constitution.

So, Treason has to be still in the language of the law in order to keep the people who are being bullied, robbed, sometimes beaten in check...

The concept of the State itself is treasonous. Treasonous to the Rights of the Individual.

4. You call me a traitor
I'll call you a traitor right back to your face.

For the last four years, myself and people like me have been called traitors by people who, among other things, are willing to throw away all their rights, sell out America to the Arabs, and reguarly attack with unbelievable hatred greiving mothers, war heroes, and women who lost their husbands in 9/11.

And, quite frankly, I'm pretty goddamned tired of it. And I'm not going to put up with it anymore.
