yes she was in love with W, but the conservatives were the ones who were out to kill her nomination. There is a chance she might have been more moderate than Alito is turning out to be. The conservatives were obviously very suspicious of her. Bottom line we wouldn't get anybody who was truly to our liking from this crowd. Alito is a disaster.

3. Exactly
Smirky and his Republican orcs assured us there would be an up or down vote. That never happened, because Miers was discovered to be unacceptable to Jim Dobson. If not for that, I'm sure she would right this minute be trying to coach Ruth Bader Ginsburg in the proper application of eye-liner.

4. "SHUT IT DOWN! "
Edited on Mon Jun-26-06 12:25 PM by gully
"I'M LEAVING THE PARTY IF WE DON'T FILIBUSTER MEIERS!"

"REID IS A TRAITOR FOR SUGGESTING MEIERS IS ANYTHING BUT SATAN SPAWN!"

Sound familiar? Sometimes even those interested in politics are lacking a clue.

Indeed, hindsite says that it's likely Meiers wasn't quite as "bad" as Alito. I wondered what those who suggested "shut it down" thought would happen if we did filibuster Meiers. Did they think Gore got to pick the next SCJ?

8. We never had the choice.
The Meirs nomination was a smokescreen for Alito. The Reptilians trotted her out for rejection by their own.

9. Aren't they all just different marionettes with the same, er,
marion pulling their strings?

Miers might have projected her voice more than the whisper-soft Alito, but that's about it.
