I Tivo'd Matthews on Colbert yesterday...
Today I replayed his parting remark, several times.

Tweety: "I think the Democrats'll pick up the House this year, if it keeps goin' this way. ...not that that's good for America, I don't want to take sides, but..uh, I do think.."

(he keeps his face turned toward Steve, his eyes rolling towards the audience.. (subtext "do you think they heard me")

Steve: "I think you just did".

(Chris: his trademark explosive "Oddball" - type laugh).

He outed himself, and he knows it. His posture makes it crystal clear.

8. Don't let them get you down. They're a small group of good Dems
who formed their opinion of Tweety back when he actually WAS a Dem---that would be prior to 1988 when "Hardball" the book was published. then they lost touch with him, except perhaps in his now defunct newspaper columns, in which he skewed Left while skewing Right on cable.

They still believe he's a Dem, the way the wingnuts call him a Lib. He's not. He was brutal on CLINTON and absolutely unforgivable on GORE and he voted for Shrub in 2000. He has said, "I'm not the Dem I used to be," and (to a Dem: ), "Oh, you're STILL a Dem."

You got it correct.

when Colbert said he liked to listen to Harball while prepping for his own show... while standing looking in a mirror and "shaving my body"

Matthews responds a few moments later saying something about not being able to continue the interview if he has to imagine Colbert shaving his chest.

Subtle, but... methinks he was imagining some sublime masculinity :) LOL

6. "Not that that's good for America"?
But it's good for the Constitution and the laws of our country.

7. Tweety tried to expound on his Repuke side, but Steven interrupted
Tweety didn't get to talk much in most of the spot. Steven started with a background, profile type deal, saying, "You, a LIFELONG Democrat..." and Tweety tried to stop him, saying, "No..." But Steven kept on, "You worked for Tip O'NEILL six years, speechwriter for Jimmy CARTER..." By that time Tweety could only say "yes" to each item, but he was DYING to say what a Repuke he IS. Steven was recovering well after the RIDICULOUS physical junk Tweety pulled, a cheap BULLY on the Catholic schoolground (he couldn't do that on a REAL playground).

I thought COLBERT handled it poorly for once. When Tweety said he was "winning" the debate on points, it was nothing of the sort. At the end COLBERT finally skewered him good on the "Dems might win, but that's NOT GOOD FOR AMERICA" crap. COLBERT had no reason to be intimidated by this a-hole. This is the only time I thought he was "off." I think he might have fallen prey to the out-dated "Tweety is a Lib" junk.
